“What I looked like when I thought nobody was watching.”
He studies my face. “Less arranged.”
“How?”
“You slouched after midnight. Rubbed the bridge of your nose when you should have stopped working. Argued with your own footage. Ate standing up when you remembered to eat at all.”
“That is devastating.”
“It wasn’t.”
The answer leaves him quickly. His jaw works once before he continues.
“You took your bra off without removing your shirt.”
Heat climbs under my clothes.
“You watched me do that.”
“Yes.”
“More than once?”
“Yes.”
The torn shoulder of my jacket hangs lower after Cade’s chase, but Owen keeps his eyes on my face.
I slide the jacket farther off my shoulder.
His gaze dips barely an inch before returning to where I wanted it, even though I haven’t said anything yet.
I tilt my head. “You looked before.”
“When you didn’t know.”
“Now I do.”
His hands close around the edge of the desk behind him. “Now you do.”
I let the jacket move another inch.
His knuckles whiten against the metal.
I step closer until his shoulders meet the cabinet. “Look at me.”
“I am.”
“Keep your eyes on my face.”
His stare sharpens.
I hook one finger beneath the torn seam and slowly pull the jacket back onto my shoulder.
His eyes stay fixed on mine.
“Does that bother you?”
“Yes.”
