“Mr. Realtor,” I say as I walk over to him, but before I can get to the door to keep it open, he shuts it, making me grit my teeth while my heart pounds.
The man is up to something, I can feel it.
Knowing I need to open it, I quickly hold my hand out to the slimy man who thinks he’s God's gift to women. He gives me a smirk as he takes my hand and goes to kiss it, but I give his shake before his lips can touch my skin. He scowls but I ignore the look and nod to the chair, the door suddenly forgotten with the thought of this man trying to kiss my hand.
Gross.
“You are looking beautiful today, Miss Newton, almost glowing,” the slimy man says as his hazel eyes take in my skirt suit. I use this outfit when I’m at the accounting office to try and be professional but having this man’s eyes on me makes me want to be unprofessional. I’m glad Linc will be here in a minute because I hate meeting with this man.
“Thank you,” I say politely, “It’s also what my boyfriend said this morning.”
The man scowls at the word boyfriend, and I try not to smirk as I go around the table and grab his folder.
“I didn’t know you were seeing someone,” he grunts, and I hum.
“I have been for the past three and a half months,” I admit, and his jaw ticks as I place his folder three seats away from him.
“Serious?” he questions like he has a right, and I lock my jaw to stop myself from snapping at him.
“Serious enough that the man has basically moved me in,” I reply curtly, “Now, let's discuss your taxes. They were a little bit of a mess from your old accountant, but I've managed to dig through them, though there are a lot of holes in them.”
Holes like he’s doctored the books, hoping I wouldn’t notice, but I take my job very seriously.
“You’re missing nearly a million in income despite what you had going in,” I say as I grab my laptop, “I was wondering if there are any more receipts that you may have misplaced?”
I look his way to find he’s still standing, so I stay near the door that he shut, clearly wanting privacy, with my laptop and everything inside me is shouting to open the door, but the look Mr. Realtor is giving me is setting me on edge. Until Linc gets here, I need to play it safe.
I don’t trust this guy, and neither does Norman, which is why Norman personally asked Linc to come today. But of course, this rat bastard arrived early, and right now he looks pissed.
“I was told you were single!” he snaps instead of discussing his taxes, and I raise a brow.
“Well, I’m not,” I reply curtly, “I am not here to discuss my relationship status, I’m here to do your taxes that are showing over a million missing, so if we can get to it…”
I nod to the chair, and he curls his lip before nodding, and as he goes to take a seat. I cautiously move to my seat, but as I place my laptop on the table, a hand roughly grabs my hair shocking me and I scream before my head is smashed against the table. Blinding pain shoots through me and I cry out as my head is yanked back up roughly.
“Blair?!” I hear Norman shout before the door rattles, but it doesn’t open. I realize he’s taken the key from outside the door that I must have just missed when he tried kissing my hand. “Why is this door locked?!” he demands, and I try to dislodge the hand in my hair as I grip it and twist my body but I scream again as the hand tightens. My head is bashed back against the table again, and dizziness hits me, bile rising.
Holy shit…
“You were supposed to be mine,” he sneers, “I had two fucking people wanting me to take you, one paying me with her body, the other with money, and I will have what is mine before I snap your neck…”
I breathe heavy, trying my hardest not to vomit, and without thinking it through, I push my head back, feeling his mouth near my ear, before it connects with his head, causing him to shout out in pain, just as I hear, “Blaze!” shouted, and the door rattles again.
Shouting in anger, the hand in my hair yanks my head up before slamming it back down, and I cry out again before the slim ball whispers, “Did you know Elenor loves to eat ass and is really fucking good at it? She gave me everything I wanted to take you, to make you filthy before I killed you,” he chuckles, “I just had no idea you were also the woman who I was paid to rape and kill before grabbing her bank card that has thousands on…”
My tears fall as haziness hits me before several loud thuds echo, then a crash as the door smashes open just as he rips up my skirt, but before he can touch my panties, I hear Linc roar into the room as the hand is quickly gone. I slide down with a thump onto the floor, my head spinning.
“Wait, wait, I please, I –”
Slime ball’s pleas are cut short as a choking sound echoes before I see his body fall to the floor, blood pouring from his neck, before I hear, “Cage, I need you at Norman’s, Blair was attacked!” and suddenly Norman’s worried eyes are latching onto mine as he slowly helps me sit up and I squeeze my eyes tight, the need to vomit high.
I hear my boyfriend snap, “I killed the fucker, make sure Trick is at the hospital waiting for us, her face is covered in fucking blood!”
I hear shuffling, and I open my eyes as Norman moves to the side, and Linc is suddenly kneeling, his warm hand cupping my face, and I choke, “I tried headbutting him like you taught me, but he didn’t let go of my hair,” and his jaw ticks and I try and swallow the bile rising as everything spins.
Little black dots are scattered before me, and I know I am about to pass out as I eye the dead body, blood covering the floor around the man who was paid to kill me, a man my sister's husband demanded to rape me and take my card…
“Please don’t be afraid of me,” Linc rasps, seeing where my attention is, and I choke, “Never,” before I sway and admit, “I think I’m going to be sick,” and he quickly moves me to the side, and bile comes up quite quickly as I vomit causing him to curse before I cough, “I think I have another concussion,” and blackness hits me and I feel myself falling before strong arms catch me and everything goes black.
