I glanced up at Xain, and he pecked my lips.

“I’m falling for you too,” I swooned.

Little footsteps in my room interrupted the moment. I had a houseful and my hands full with this bunch.

CHAPTER TEN

Xain

Easing into the alley, I made sure I didn’t see any cameras before I threw the truck into park.

“Why are we here, and why the fuck did you ask me to bring Killa?”

“I need him to bite a nigga.”

“Nigga, what the fuck?” Stepp laughed until he looked over and realized I was dead serious.

“When did my lil nigga become a form of retribution?”

“You named him Killa, so he was destined for this shit. Plus, the way he did them lil niggas that ran up in your crib, don’t act like this is his first rodeo. He damn near caught a body. We are here to make sure he don’t kill nobody,” I explained, pulling the ski masks out of the middle console.

“This is the last time I get in the car to go anywhere with yo’ ass unless I know the play. You got me and Killa in the middle of some shit early in the morning. Who you want to sic him on?”

“I’ll explain later. There he go right there,” I announced, looking into the side mirror.

Brian Daniels, the weak-ass nigga who had to bite Noah to get out of a chokehold, was out on his morning jog. The bitch lost his job two months ago, and that’s why he moved in with Noah and his mom. We pulled on our ski masks and hopped out just as he passed the driver’s door.

I swung a right hook to his side, the same area on Noah that was still healing. The impact from the unexpected blow sent Brian tumbling to the ground. My job was easier than I expected. No wonder Noah was in that house whooping his ass. Motha fucka couldn’t take a hit for shit.

“Aye! Man!” He choked out, struggling to catch his breath. “I don’t have any money on me. Just my phone, you—”

I slapped the phone he lifted toward me, and it skidded across the sidewalk. Brian’s eyes widened, and he found the strength to crawl backward when he saw Stepp and Killa rounding the truck.

GRRRRR!

Killa growled and lunged forward, practically dragging Stepp towards us. His muscles rippled, and his sharp teeth flashed as the growl turned into a bark that sounded like a request for Stepp to let him loose.

“Wait! Please—”

“Get ‘em,” Stepp commanded and released the grip on the chain dog leash.

ARF! ARF! ARF!

Three barks, three seconds, and Killa was on that ass like flies on shit. I wasn’t about to bite the nigga to get even, but Killa did what needed to be done. Brian flailed his arms trying to get Killa off him, and he chomped into his wrist, drawing blood. The attack went on for maybe thirty seconds before Stepp whistled at Killa. His big ass head jerked up, and he ran towards Stepp. We piled into the truck that was missing a license plate and sped out of the alley.

“Whew!” I yelled, pulling the ski mask off once we were a distance away.

My adrenaline was pumping; I missed the rush that came along with doing some unhinged shit. I hadn’t done anything reckless in a long time. It felt exhilarating to get that off.

“So why the fuck did you pull Killa into an attempted murder?” Stepp questioned from the backseat.

“That fuck nigga is fucking on Khaleesi’s lil brother’s mama. They got into it, and my lil nigga got ol’ head into a headlock, and he bit the fuck out of him. Oh, and they were fighting over the food my shorty put in that crib for her brother.”

“Ion know why Khaleesi would tell you some shit like that,” Stepp shook his head.

“She didn’t,” I chuckled. “Her lil brother told me. He thought telling me was safer than telling Khaleesi. Jit just didn’t know I’m willing to do a lot of shit behind him and his sister.”

“She got your head gone, huh?” Stepp queried, climbing across the seat so he was up front.
