“I can’t fault you for your good taste.”

“I told you it was a keeper. I’m glad you let me buy it for you.”

She turned back to face the mirror, slipping on the diamond teardrop earrings.

I ran my finger down the thin strap of her evening gown, loving the way goosebumps rippled over her skin. The past six weeks had been like something out of a dream. Even though Amira insisted on taking things slow in the bedroom, it hadn’t stopped us from indulging in the most erotic foreplay I’d ever experienced.

Yes, we were getting to know one another, developing a friendship of sorts in our marriage, but I was also learning things about her sexually. Like talking dirty to her while she fingered herself made her come quicker than my silence. Or that she loved seeing me pleasure myself while I bound her hands behind her back with my necktie. I wanted nothing more than to bury my face between her legs, but I promised that I wouldn’t touch her. And I hadn’t. Amira was in total control. And I kind of liked it.

In the meantime, I was enjoying our mutual masturbation sessions more than I thought possible.

“Zane,” she warned. “We have to leave.”

“And what if I want to stay?”

She shook her head, watching me in the mirror. “Then I would say no.”

“No?” I tugged her against me, breathing in the delicate perfume she’d sprayed only moments ago.

“We’ve a car waiting downstairs and a room full of people at this charity event that’ll be expecting you to be there as well. On time, might I add.”

I groaned, gripping her hips. “You’re killing me, you know that.”

She rolled her eyes, not budging an inch. “We’re taking things slowly, remember? Getting to know one another.”

I bit down on her neck, loving the sound of her delicate gasp. “We are doing that.”

“Zane.”

“I wouldn’t object if you wanted to strip naked and get yourself off while I watched. I promise I won’t tell.”

“I meant outside of the bedroom.”

My phone buzzed before I could offer some smart-ass response. I checked the number and shoved it back in my pocket.

“Who was that?”

I shrugged.

“Zane.” Amira turned. “Who?”

“Omar’s executor.”

“Again? You said you’d contact him.”

I adjusted my suit collar, wanting nothing more than to rip the fucking thing off.

“The man came to my store last week looking for you, Zane. You can’t just keep ignoring him.”

“He had no right hounding you.”

When she’d come home with the news, I’d been fucking pissed. The last thing I’d wanted was for my problems to encroach on her life. She didn’t need some fucking lawyer harassing her just to get to me. If Amira hadn’t calmed me down at the time, I would have found out where the executor lived and given him a piece of my mind.

“He wasn’t hounding me. He’s an old man, a very fed-up old man who just wanted to see that Omar’s wishes were carried out. You can’t fault him for trying. You also can’t just shove things aside because it doesn’t suit you.”

“I’ve said it a million times, I’m not interested in what this man has to say. Omar is dead. End of story.”

Amira sighed. “I’m sure Kade would want you to have whatever his father had left in the will.”
