"I enjoy this," she said.
"Watching me brush my teeth?" he asked through the foam.
"Having you with me in our bathroom."
He rinsed, combed his hair, and did not shave. She had said she liked the beard, so he was going to keep it until she said it needed trimming. After all, he did not take care of his looks so he could admire his own reflection.
He did it to please her.
The problem was that he lacked basic knowledge about all the ways a male could please a female, and much as he dreaded asking others for help, especially on that subject, he had no choice.
"I am going to visit my men today," he said when Ogidu served them coffee after breakfast. "I thought I might train with them instead of doing it alone. The competition will be good for me."
He braced himself for her trying to persuade him not to go because she wanted him where she could see him.
"That is a wonderful idea," she said, surprising him. "You need them, and they need you."
That had been too easy, and he half expected her to offer to come with him.
"While you are gone, I will call my children and tell them the good news," she said.
He was relieved she did not offer to come with him. He needed to talk to Esag, and he could not do it with Annani present, but then what she had said registered, and he arched a brow.
"Are you going to inform them that I moved into your bedroom?"
She laughed. "No, silly. I am going to tell them about the wedding. There is a lot to prepare."
He had not thought about the details when he had asked her to marry him again, and he wondered if he had taken an active part in the planning of the first wedding.
Unlikely.
Her mother and father had probably planned it all.
"Do you need my help with the planning?" he asked just in case it was expected of him.
"Only if you want to. Once I brainstorm it with my daughters, I will run the options by you." She chuckled. "Amanda will begin planning our wedding before I am done telling her about it. She loves doing that and is very good at them. Remember what I told you about the ship the clan owns?"
He remembered vaguely that she mentioned it. "What does that have to do with weddings?"
Annani set down the coffee cup. "We had a wedding cruise that was supposed to last ten days but ended up lasting a little longer. That is a story for another time. Almost the entire clan was present, and each night a different couple was wed in a special celebration tailored for them. Amanda planned them all and made sure that no two were alike."
He frowned. "You told me Amanda is a scientist, and that she researches paranormal abilities in hopes of finding Dormants in the human population."
"That is her day job. For fun, she plans weddings and does all kinds of crazy things I cannot explain to you given all the background details necessary to understand them."
"Do I even want to know?"
Annani scrunched her nose. "Perhaps you do not. I will leave it up to Amanda to tell you about her hobbies when she feels like it. Anyway, she is very good and very fast. Her first wedding ever was Kian and Syssi's, and she managed to pull off a grand party in two weeks. No one else would have been able to do that." She chuckled. "Poor Syssi almost had a nervous breakdown."
"Because Amanda took over the planning?"
"Because Amanda pushed her to make decisions at a pace a careful lady like Syssi was not comfortable with. I would have asked Amanda to arrange ours in two weeks, but she has a baby girl now, so she cannot work around the clock. I am going to give her three."
Khiann nearly choked on a mouthful of coffee.
"Three weeks?" he asked.
"Give or take a week. Amanda might be able to pull it off faster if she mobilizes others."
