“Pretty much, yeah. Our balcony doors were both open and I heard him fucking.”

“Who?” My stomach sours, threatening to empty itself from one end or the other as I await the name. Her name.

“I don’t know. They didn’t say names but—”

“No names were said? You’re sure?”

“I wasn’t listening that closely. But I did hear Dommy.”

Dommy? What the hell?

“You heard him call the other woman Dommy?”

“Not exactly. She called herself that.”

Wait…

Some of the whooshing ebbs on its own.

“Did you see anyone go in or out of my room?”

“No, just you, when you were all sweaty. That’s why I assumed it was you.”

“You assumed I was the one calling myself Dommy?” I sneer.

“I don’t fucking know you and your trauma.”

“Oh my God. My trauma?”

“Sarge…”

I groan. “Because of my mom?” I can’t believe I thought anything about Khaos was attractive. That’s officially out the window.

“And your dad…”

“My dad’s not even around.”

Khaos cocks his head. “Exactly.”

Someone, probably a Mathews if I had to guess, aired my family’s dirty laundry, so now Khaos thinks he knows me, knows my life, my struggles, my trauma.

“I can’t fucking even with you.”

“All right, well, why were you so sweaty then?”

“Obviously it wasn’t from dominating my boyfriend.”

“That’s a fucking relief,” he counters just as testily.

We glare at each other.

After a moment, he asks, “What were you doing? Swimming? You weren’t wearing a swimsuit and you didn’t have a towel, but you were drenched.”

“Do you realize how creepy you sound right now? You’re my stepbrother and you’re over here memorizing every detail about me.”

“You know how conceited you sound right now? You’re always fucking with your hair. Even right now, you’re obsessed with your looks.”

I immediately drop my hands to my sides, curling them into fists.
