“Die,” she groans.

“Yeah, I’m gonna make sure Tina dies for this.” As tempted as I am to send Tina a picture of my current view, I don’t want to look at Kota’s puke any longer than I have to. So it gets flushed.

“I’m die.”

Getting to my knees while still holding her hair with one hand, I brush the stray pieces at the front off her face with the other, and promise her, “You’re not dying. I won’t let you.”

That’s what I should’ve said. I can’t be her final resting place because I would never let her die.

The ghost of a smile flirts with her lips.

I don’t know how she does it. Despite sitting in the middle of the most disgusting sight I’ve ever seen, she’s still so gorgeous.

Unable to stop myself, I press a kiss to the spot below her ear.

“Are you okay to stand up?”

She lifts her head to nod, but says, “Carry me.”

“Okay.” I give her another kiss, this one to her temple.

Slowly, I get her up onto the counter before reaching for her toothbrush. Unfortunately, there’s two in the holder—one completely normal looking, the other…a fucking mess of distorted bristles. Either someone’s been chewing the fuck out of it or it’s for cleaning. It looks more like a toilet brush.

Curious, I grab it. “What do you use this on?”

“Ugh.” Kota chucks it into the bathtub. “That’s his.”

His. Guy’s. If he does that to a toothbrush, I can’t even imagine how he treats other things with his mouth. Poor Kota.

“Can you do this yourself?” I ask after readying hers with toothpaste.

For answer, she takes the toothbrush out of my hand and begins brushing her teeth.

Mouth full of foamy toothpaste, she mumbles, “You fink it’s garma?”

“Do I think it’s karma? What, you getting sick?”

She spits before clarifying, much more clearly, “Guy cheating on me.”

There’s a lot of gray area where Kota and I are concerned but one thing’s for sure—Guy was fucking Lisann way before I touched Kota.

“No.”

She points the toothbrush at me. “Do you think Lisann’s an upgrade from me?”

I half laugh as I trade her toothbrush for the cup next to the sink. Even at Kota’s worst, which this just might be, she’s still better than Lisann. At least to me.

“No.”

After rinsing and spitting, she says, “She does have bigger boobs than me.”

It’s a struggle to keep my eyes on hers and not lower to her chest. I busy myself with refilling the cup so she has something to drink.

“But fewer brain cells,” I tell her, even though I probably don’t have to. The moon shit was a dead giveaway.

“She was right about one thing. I wasn’t confident enough in bed.”

“She said bossy.”
