No. Probably not.
Kota looks at me expectantly.
“I don’t know, Kota. It… It felt different to me. To look after you, care for you. It affected me. You affected me.”
That’s the best way I can describe it. Anything more and we’re encroaching pussy territory. I swear to God I’m already halfway there.
“I affected you?”
I know she’s trying to mock me but I’ve never been more serious.
So without so much as blinking, I look her dead in her eyes and tell her, “Permanently.” She burrowed into my chest and made herself a home in my heart.
That same girl scoffs but stays where she is.
“You’re saying you would’ve been fine taking me to the airport, if you knew how to drive?”
I nod.
“Who taught you?”
I’d like to think that’s jealousy I’m picking up in her tone and sudden change of expression.
I’m tempted to say Tina’s name just to prove it.
“Dex.”
“Was he a good teacher?”
“Not as good as you.”
That gets a smile out of her, a big one, the kind I wish she would’ve given me the day she got back from tour.
“So you’ve been mad at me this whole time?”
“Not the whole time.”
Yes, she was. She was pissed at me for almost three months because she was under the impression I rejected her.
“Next time you’re mad at me for anything, come find me and let me know what I did wrong so I can make it up to you.”
That sun-drenched cherry scent draws me in. I love her expensive, lasts-all-day-and-night perfume this close. It’s when I smell it from afar, I suffer. It’s when she’s afar, I suffer.
I lean down, only to be stopped by a hand on my chest.
“Khaos.”
“Mm?” I eye her lips, ready to kiss the fuck out of them the second Kota gives me the green light.
“What about Guy?”
“I didn’t give a fuck about him when you were with him. I don’t give a fuck about him now.”
“But am I kind of…with him.”
It’s funny how quick she can flip a script.
Fortunately, I’m an expert at changing my stance on a dime.
