I roll my eyes. What the fuck.
“I’m almost ready!” she calls out to Guy before lowering her hand and whispering to me, “Just…stay here. Please.”
She’s gone before I can even answer, then I hear him. He’s in Kota’s bedroom. She let him in. With me standing in her damn closet.
The light’s already off, so I just lean against the wall beside the door, out of view.
“We’re cutting it close, babe.”
“I know. I know. I drank too much and forgot to set my alarm.”
And lock her door.
“I don’t know what got into you last night. You knew it was our last night together for months.”
“So did you.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
She’s gonna do it. She’s gonna dump his ass. I almost rub my hands together in anticipation.
“Just that…you didn’t come to bed.”
“Yeah, because you left me to entertain everyone by myself.”
Unless he found someone to complete that tripod he was pushing for, Lisann was the only person he was entertaining.
“How many people showed up?”
This is a prime example of how Kota turns into a completely different girl the second Guy comes around. Instead of asking for a headcount, she should be calling him out on his bullshit.
“Obviously enough to keep me busy all night.”
I imagine putting Guy in a rear naked chokehold until he passes out.
“We have to go. Where’s your shirt?”
A small hand appears next to me, the fingers clenching and unclenching.
Slipping my shirt off as quickly and quietly as possible, I feed it to the hungry hand.
Kota draws her arm back with it in her hold.
I have to bite my lips between my teeth to keep from laughing. She’s gonna put my shirt on right in front of her boyfriend and—
The shirt’s thrown back into the closet, landing on the floor.
That was fucking rude. I’m only trying to help.
“I can get one from my suitcase.”
“Well, where’s that? We’re already running late,” Guy gripes.
“I’ll grab it.”
Kota appears at the threshold and studies me next to it, then her suitcase beside me.
One hand holding the doorjamb, she reaches past me to get her luggage.
