T-shirt? Why did he leave that on? That’s not very efficient!

Khaos’s hand falls away from the shirt’s hemline and my pussy all at once.

No. No!

Without the overwhelming sensation clouding my judgement, reality creeps back in. He was holding my shirt down with one hand while he removed my hoodie with the other… Why…

Because that’s not my hoodie. In his grasp is his hoodie, the one he threw at me in the driveway.

This is mine. He wasn’t talking about me at all. He was talking about his hoodie.

Khaos saw me wearing his hoodie. Oh God. How could I forget I put it on? Without anyone here, I knew I’d never get another chance to. The scent on it—Khaos’s sexy, secretive scent—was comforting. I couldn’t sleep, so I pulled it out from where I’d hid it in my closet and put it on.

“I—”

Khaos shakes his head at me, killing the lie before it can even take shape.

I should’ve thrown it away. I should’ve done any of those things I thought of the day his hoodie came into my possession. But I didn’t. I couldn’t. It smells like him.

My body didn’t make that decision. I did.

So, no, I don’t feel sisterly toward Khaos. Not in the slightest.

My cheeks ablaze, I twist to leave, and this time, he lets me.

The disappointment I feel in that is itchy and unwelcome.

I pause for a moment to collect myself. My boyfriend is on the other side of this door. Whatever this is, it’s not worth risking my relationship with Guy.

As I reach the knob, Khaos shuts off the light, cloaking us in darkness.

“Sweet dreams, Silver,” makes its way to me through the black.

A cloying melancholy settles around me. This was the sweetest dream I ever had.

“Guy?” I say when I step out, careful to close the door behind me.

“What were you doing in there?”

His suspicion is justified. I have my own bathroom. Why would I be caught dead in this one, the same one Khaos uses?

I blurt the only excuse I can think of, “There’s a spider in mine.”

“Why didn’t you just kill it?”

“It’s big.”

Guy rolls his eyes but wraps an arm around my shoulders, his cold hand rubbing my arm reminding me of the hoodie I just lost. If I came out here with it still on, Guy would’ve asked where it came from. If he caught a whiff of it, he wouldn’t have had to.

Khaos didn’t take it back because he didn’t want me wearing it. If that were the case, he would’ve said something sooner. He waited until Guy was about to see me in it. He saved my relationship.

If he doesn’t feel brotherly toward me, what the hell does he feel?

Another weekend, another list of errands pulling Guy into a million other directions, none of them leading to me. After a quick appearance from Mom and Graham at the beginning of the week, Guy stayed with me Wednesday and Thursday but not last night. He kept saying he would be back, until one o’clock rolled around and I passed out, unintentionally missing his text at two saying he was done. Unlike last weekend though, he didn’t come over after not hearing from me. He stayed away. For the first time in our relationship, I didn’t wake up next to my boyfriend when I could’ve.

I apologized, profusely, but here it is eight twenty-one at night and I’m still waiting to hear what tonight’s plan is. Is he coming? Is he not? Am I being punished? Iced out? What?

It’d be nice to know.
