“I’m going to breed you, Ivory.” He buries his face in the crook of my neck and his teeth clamp down on the skin hard. The spot where he bit me aches a sweet symphony into my bones, making me dizzy alongside his words. “I’ll make you a mommy and you’ll be a good girl and take it all.”

His hands curve over my shoulder, rocking me closer against him with every thrust.

“You will carry my child and you will be mine for fucking ever.”

The last words come out as a growl, no longer sounding like Derek. Or even human.

Yours.

His.

Being his.

It sounds like everything I could want from the future.

I’m so drunk off his words, high on this pleasure his body serves me stroke after stroke. I can’t think straight. And my body tips over the edge without consent, taking my intoxicated heart right with it.

Chapter fifty six

Ivory

I think breakfast has become my favorite meal of the day.

Not only do I love the fact that it comes with a hot beverage and fresh juice, I’ve come to realize that I really love the atmosphere.

It feels like everything is possible, anything can happen today, but it’s not yet time.

Sitting there with my mushroom coffee or tea and dreaming about what great things the day might hold without actually having to get up and do any of them? I love these moments.

This is what possibility must feel like.

Derek has taken up his usual spot next to me on one of the bar stools. As much as I love using the dining room for dinner and lunch, I still requested we have breakfast in the living room. This is where the dogs are, and we can watch them sleep in while we start our day.

In the beginning Posie shared a space with the pups but now that they’ve started to grow into their bodies, she moved back into her own crate. She’s still deeply asleep, her body moving only with her slow breaths. Sunshine leaks in from the large windows, bathing her champagne fur in golden light.

“I’ve had an idea.”

Ripping my gaze from Posies form, I find Derek looking at me. He has put his cup aside and his shoulders are straightened to a point where I know there is something important on his mind.

Placing my cup next to his on the counter, I nod. My smile is still in place when he continues. It only cracks when his words sink into my consciousness.

“I think we can lure the people who run the ring into a trap if we play our cards right. Posie still looks pregnant enough to be used as bait.”

Slowly the happiness I wear on my face turns into a mask, a layer of paint that dried in the sun and that my body is shedding like a second skin now that hurt moves my features.

“What?”

How can he say that?

Bait?

Tears gather in my eyes, blurring the room around me as my gaze returns to Posie.

“We could put it on the Dark Net with a picture of her. I’m certain they’d go for it.” Derek doesn’t sound worried, more like he is excited about his idea.

“But, she—” I go to explain it, but he interrupts me quickly before I get the words out.

“She’d be safe. As soon as they go to take her, we’ll step in. Nothing will happen to her.”
