It isn’t really a lie. After all, that is definitely where my mind is glued to now.

Especially because Ivory isn’t pushing me away, she isn’t even loosening her grip on me.

Chapter fifty five

Ivory

I don’t know what exactly changed, but something inside of me has shifted.

The idea of being pregnant always scared me to the point of running away, but now? Thinking about what Derek says doesn’t scare me. Not even a little bit.

It does the opposite actually.

I feel safe.

Because how couldn’t I?

I’m with someone who wants me bad enough, they’d want me to carry their child. Me. Not something or someone I could’ve been or could become. Me. What greater sign of trust and devotion is there than that?

“Do it then.” My words are a whisper into the fabric of Derek’s loose shirt, but I can tell that he heard me because he stiffens in my arms.

“What?”

His breathing stops, nothing in him moving except his heart that pounds against my hands over his chest. Each ba-dumm is like a clock ticking down the seconds of my indecision.

“Breed me.”

I can’t believe I’m saying this. Even when the words are carried by not much more than a shaky exhale, I can’t believe I’m actually letting them slip from my lips.

Derek isn’t losing a second.

Turning around, he already has one arm wrapped around me and turns me with him until he faces the living room again. Except now I’m no longer behind him and instead I’m trapped between his chest and the counter at my back.

“Say that again.” His breath is in my face, his nose brushing mine while he devours me with his eyes. The dark green swallows me whole until I feel like I can’t breathe.

My breaths rattle inside my lungs, but the words still come.

“Breed me.”

Derek’s hands grab the back of my legs, lifting me up until my ass slips onto the marble counter.

“Again.” His lips demand harshly against mine, my tongue tasting his exhale like a drug.

“Breed me, Derek.”

His groan has me melting into his hold even when he bends forward enough to lay me down on the countertop before him like I’m his last meal. Feeling him move gently as he peels off my clothes makes me want to scream at him to keep going.

I know he’s slowing things down on purpose to give me time to change my mind, even if he’d argue the opposite.

Maybe this is another moment where I should tell him that I in fact don’t have an IUD. I already pushed our luck the one time we did this. But my tongue manages nothing more than a pained moan when he oh so carefully takes off both my socks.

I push my hips up to aid him in taking off my panties, but he only pushes them back down until my bottom is planted on the cool stone once again.

“Don’t be greedy, Ivory, I’ve waited for this long enough.” I can feel the rumble in his words like gravel on my skin when he dips down to brush his lips over my lower abdomen. “Let me savour it.”

A little gasp comes out of me when his teeth grab hold of the hem of my underwear.

“Derek—”
