Jace stops walking and turns so he’s blocking the way. “Is that how things were for you?”
“Yes.”
Clint squeezes me harder, and I’m momentarily lost for words.
“That won’t ever be that way again. No matter how this works out, we won’t leave you alone to suffer.”
I swallow around the thick lump in my throat.
Khione spins, her hair flying out, stealing my attention.
“What do you do for your heats?” I ask her.
“Medication, dildos, hotels.”
I choke. I’m not the only one. Just the images alone that launch into my brain.
“Hey, Clint, you were right, you’ve still got a seagull following you.”
Clint gasps and pulls me back against him so close that we’re plastered together. He buries his face in my neck and wraps his arms around me.
“Save me, Omega.”
That one word.
It’s just one word.
It shouldn’t mean anything.
It ruins me for anyone but them.
I grip onto his arms, holding him to me. “I’ll protect you, Alpha.”
He goes completely still, like he’s surprised. We’re standing in the middle of the footpath in Sunshine Cove, and I think we just broke ourselves.
“Come on, let’s go back to Clint’s house and…” she trails off as she turns and sees us, and the biggest smile crosses her face. “We can all get naked. I have an idea for some fun.”
“This is not what we thought you meant!” Jace shouts.
I laugh as Jace growls in the dark, not far from me.
“It’s a bonding game,” Khione whispers and cackles madly.
“It’s naked hide and seek!” Jace grumbles.
“I’m all for hide and seek. I’ve got a dick that really wants to hide- Ooof. Zaire, that was mean,” Clint whines.
I stand against the wall, not speaking, as the alphas stumble around in the dark trying to find us.
Okay, I will give it to Khione. This is kind of fun.
Khione giggles, and I hear someone lunge.
Two bodies collide.
“Ow!”
“Jace?”
