Zaire whips around. “Did you just say you leave your back door unlocked?”

“Well, yeah, it’s Sunshine Cove.”

I think maybe his head might explode, but I forget all about him when Felix fingers the necklace.

“This is gorgeous! Where did you get it?”

“I have a gentleman stalker who leaves me gifts,” I say without thinking.

Zaire lets out a sound of pure rage. I watch him carefully, wondering if he is okay.

I glance back at Felix, who has not moved away from me yet. Those beautiful gold-green eyes pin me to the spot.

It’s funny, the necklace and his eyes are almost the same colour.

“We’re doing Trick or Treat today. As a team, we get to go to three different stalls. We can choose and pick whether we want a trick or a treat, then we have to do a challenge.”

“A challenge?”

He shrugs his shoulders; the move should not be sexy, and yet, I find myself falling into him, forgetting everything but the memory of that kiss. A kiss I want to repeat.

“Shall we go?”

“What?”

Felix smiles, it’s delightfully wicked, and I know I will follow this omega anywhere just so that he smiles at me like that.

He brushes my hair back and rubs his thumb on my cheek. “You have paint here.”

“I do?” I clap my hand there, but he gently pulls it away.

“Leave it. I like it.”

“We’re up!” Jace says. “Come on, team, let’s go get this over with.”

Felix refuses to let go of my hand and follows Jace and Clint. Spectre stays right with Zaire, and I realise I’m checking in on them all. Assessing their moods, how okay they are, whether they will forgive me, their health.

There’s a stall with just the familiar face of Yolanda standing behind it.

“Hi.”

“Hello,” I say back. “Cake?”

She shakes her head. “I can’t tell you that. You have to decide, trick or treat?”

I hum. “What happens if we choose wrong?”

“Well, there’s a challenge you have to go through; one choice will make it easy, one will make it harder.”

I bob my head and glance at my temporary pack.

“You decide,” Zaire growls.

I turn back to her. “Treat.”

Yolanda smiles widely, and with a touch of evil, I must say. “You have to put on a blindfold, and then you’re going to be given three desserts, I need you to tell me what they are.”

I pull on the blindfold. “This can’t be that hard, surely?”
