I get the impression that no one else comes up here. Step by step, I barely breathe as I ascend. My first image is one of red. Crimson like blood and black velvet. It’s a strange combination, but it makes my heart pound.
My body knows what this is before my mind catches up.
I step into his nest, feeling my legs tremble at the incredible trust and generosity. I’ve never seen the inside of another omega’s nest, not in real life. It’s amazing and so different from the one I made at home.
I like to cover my ceiling in taffeta and have a gazillion pillows. It’s cluttered with glitter stickers and teddy bears. The complete opposite of this. Felix’s nest is one of sophistication. There is very little warmth, everything is modern, sleek, sexy lines in that damning red and black. Even the floor, walls, and ceiling have been painted black.
The bed is massive and has a headboard made out of wrought iron, and there are handcuffs on them. I swallow hard, taking in the faux-fur black rug, the elegant pitcher with six glasses, and the black fridge beneath it.
“What do you think?” Felix murmurs as he circles me.
It’s so hard to breathe right now.
What do I think? What do I think? I try to find the words, but it’s like my tongue has swollen and can’t move. All I can do is stare at him, my eyes stretched wide and my scent pooling into the air, giving away all the thoughts I can’t put into words.
“Alpha’s coming up,” Clint shouts up the stairs.
I expect Felix to growl and get all territorial, but he simply moves to the window and pulls the heavy black curtains open, letting us see the incredible view of the Australian bush.
“Oh…wow,” Clint says in a harsh voice.
I glance at him and see him reach down and adjust himself. He swallows hard, turns, turns again, and finally nods.
“I’m going to go downstairs so I don’t drop to my knees and beg.”
I snort a laugh, but Felix doesn’t laugh, he just watches him coldly, all the emotions I know he has locked away again.
“The alphas are running from you,” I say and walk towards him, dipping to run my hand over the cool and sleek fabric of the comforter that’s on the bed.
“And I care because?”
“Because you like them, because you want them. Because you are thinking about them fucking you on this bed. Just like I am.”
“I’m not thinking about fucking them, Omega.”
I pause and bite my lower lip, needing the pain to bring me back to reality.
“Well, maybe you should. It could be a party.”
He growls and lunges for me, but I laugh and dance away from him. “Come, Omega, we need to go to your mother’s house for brunch, remember?”
“Don’t talk about my mother in my nest.”
He grabs me, yanking me into his chest. We’re closer than we’ve ever been, his air mixing with mine, and I think the rest of the world melts away like that surreal painting downstairs.
“You can use my nest. If you need a place. This can be yours.”
The world sharpens, crystallizes. “You would share your nest with me? Really?”
“Really.”
“Why?”
“Because…you’re going to be mine, Khione.”
I shake my head, a wordless denial.
“Keep denying it, but I’m a Sol, and we always get what we want, and I want you. I’m not giving you up; I don’t care that you have to leave. We’re supposed to be together forever.”
