“Focus, Alpha, or there will be a written test.”

He gulps. “Food, dog, room, job.”

I wink at him. “You can be taught. Good boy.”

He blushes. “Oh, my gawd, if you tell Katsu I blushed, I will throw you under the bus and then some.”

I laugh, but suddenly, I’m snatched away, lifted and thrown over a muscled shoulder.

“Officer, I feel like this might go against your job description,” I purr, waving at Fox as we leave him behind.

“I’m off the clock.”

“Mmhmm. Has anyone ever told you how good your ass looks?”

He stumbles and almost goes down. “No!” he says in a strangled voice. “They have not.”

I shake my head sadly. “A great tragedy. Well, let me be the one to tell you that ass is just biteable.”

“Biteable?”

“Oh, yes, I want to sink my teeth into your cheeks and leave marks all over you…whoa, put me down.” The sudden, intense hit of cinnamon sugar that explodes into the air surprises both of us.

He swings me down, and I take three healthy steps back, trying to ignore the way his eyes are flaring with interest.

“So, apparently I have a weakness for your ass, so, um, let’s just keep it PG and remember that you have a cute omega over yonder.”

We turn to look and see Felix punch Clint in the face.

“Huh,” I say with disappointment. “That was mean.”

“Not going quite how you thought, is it?”

I cast the amused cop a dark look. “Are you still off duty?”

He sighs. “You want me to go save Clint? From the omega?”

“His name is Felix, and yes. Save Clint.”

Jace grins at me. “You are a whole lot more than what you show people. Was it worth revealing yourself?”

“For Zaire? Yes, a thousand times, yes.”

Jace’s smile slips away. “You care for him.”

“So much. And you will, too. So prepare yourself, that alpha is a fixer-upper, but he’s got more heart than anyone I know.”

“Why am I becoming your sidekick?” he mutters.

“Because you are logical and can think clearly. Because you have stakes in the game with Clint threatening to leave. And to top it all off, I’ve seen the way you look at Felix.”

Jace flinches, and the tips of his ears turn red.

He stares at me. “Okay, little T.”

“Little T?”

“Tyrant. You are one.”
