“Going where?”
“Back to find your alphas because you need them.”
“I smell bad.”
“You do.”
“I don’t care!” I say as I round the corner. He looks beautiful, wild, unkempt, but Felix. I throw myself at him and hug him tight. He trembles and then wraps his arms around me and holds me so tight my ribs crack, but we both ignore it.
“I thought you wouldn’t want me.”
“Of course, I want you. You’re my omega. I want you. I will always want you. You and Khione are equals. Just like our alphas are. We are one pack, and every single person matters. I love you, Felix, you have to believe that if nothing else.”
He sags against me, and then I have Asher hugging us, too. I lift an arm and hug her, too, and she’s crying. They are too similar, and the bond between them is strong.
Asher is a part of Felix that we have been ignoring. We need to pay attention to her, she is family, too, and pack, regardless of whether she is in ours or not.
Minutes later, Clint, Zaire, and Spectre appear, and I step back, letting them have the reunion that we all need.
We stand on the rocky beach for a long time, while Clint and Zaire whisper words to Felix that break down his walls forever and chain him to us with bonds of love.
He is our omega.
Now…we need to go find Khione. She said to trust her, she said she was coming back. I think we should ride in on white horses and save her.
Chapter 35
Khione
Harvest has somehow managed to pick the lock on my bedroom door, and he’s now sitting on the bed beside me, his legs out, and his expression bleak.
“You know we’ll be friends forever, but I can’t bite you. I won’t do it.”
I glance at him listlessly. I’ve cried for hours, begged, pleaded. Screamed, fought. There isn’t anything I haven’t tried.
For some reason, Dad is sticking to his guns.
“I found my scent match in Sunshine Cove,” Harvest whispers. “Me, like, I can’t believe I actually get one. He’s fucking gorgeous. Like I’d burn the world down just to be able to lick this guy. I don’t want you, Khione.”
“Thank fuck,” I say in relief. “That’s just…thank you, Harvest.”
He hums and then holds out a set of keys.
My attention sharpens.
“So, I’m going back. Want a ride?”
I stand up. “Fuck yes.”
He bounces off the bed. We make it to the door before Dad appears, shaking his head.
“I would be fine with anyone else, but a cop?” he snarls. He scowls at me, then turns to Harvest. “And a lawyer. What is wrong with the pair of you?”
“The heart chooses who the heart chooses,” Harvest says stubbornly.
Dad sighs and gestures for us to follow him.
We head out to the lounge, where he pours three whiskeys and sits down on his favourite armchair.
