“I’m going to kill you.”
“Eh, how about put all that energy into getting your alpha back, and then you can get laid, and you will be too happy to worry about whether I am reading all your feelings.”
“I fucking hate you, Gian.”
“You do not.”
“I don’t, but I want to right now! Those were private.”
“You pined for those two so much I’m surprised they didn’t notice. You mentioned Felix’s gold-green eyes one hundred and ninety-three times in that book.”
“How many times did you read it?” Jace shouts.
“A few. I was bored. Clint’s arms, his muscles, the time you saw him naked, the time he got hard when you touched him. I didn’t like that page; it was sticky.”
“OH, MY GOD! Stop talking!”
I clear my throat. “We are announcing ourselves so you stop revealing incriminating things about yourselves.”
Gian snickers. Jace’s face appears. He looks absolutely horrified.
“How much did you hear?”
I scratch my head and squint. “Um, there was a diary and a sticky page, but it went over my head.”
“Went over his, too,” Gian says dryly.
I inhale really slowly, trying hard not to laugh.
“Come on, Jace. We need to talk.”
“You’re still here,” he whispers in the most heartbreaking voice of hope I have ever heard.
“Of course, I am; how could I leave you all like this?”
He comes down, staring at me hesitantly, and then he hugs me so tight I can barely breathe. Spectre protests, but we ignore the dog.
“I thought you were gone.”
“You can’t get rid of me that easily,” I whisper.
“Thankfully.”
“All right, let’s go talk. How do we find Clint and bring him home? Come on, Alphas. We don’t have much time.”
They follow me back, but our efforts fail. Holly and Clint have gone dark.
There’s nothing we can do but wait until they pop their heads up.
Chapter 32
Clint
Maybe I should have waited.
No, it would have been worse.
I should have waited.
