She shakes her head. “No, but damn, this is the most excitement we’ve had in months.”
He gets to his knees and walks to the door, leaning up on it, peering through. He giggles again, then ducks down.
The cat meows and rolls with his motions, somehow keeping her feet.
“Hello, do you want a book?” Sofia asks.
“Nope. I can’t read.”
“What?” Sofia asks dumbly. She looks horrified.
“Oh, man, you should see your face. Of course, I can read, I’m busy, though. If I’m caught, I have to wear a dress in the charity run next week.”
Cordelia stares at him. “You’re from Angler’s Beach, aren’t you?”
He glances at her and beams. “Yep, sure am. Name’s Locky. Now, Omegas, you are gorgeous-”
Harvest growls.
Locky looks at him, smiles wider, and gives a salute. “You are, too! Gotta jet. Be smart in the water!”
And just that quick, he’s gone.
“Uh…who was that?” I ask.
“I have no idea,” Cordelia says in shock. “But I think he’s one of the lifesavers.”
Sofia snorts. “I wonder what he’s doing in Sunshine Cove.”
The door opens again, and Felix stalks in, his steps softening and slowing when he sees me.
“Hi, Felix.”
He ignores Sofia, instead walking up and cupping my cheeks. “No disappearing, I was worried.”
My cheeks burn.
“Well, I know where I stand now,” Sofia grumbles and folds her arms over her chest.
“S’all right, babe, I got you.”
Eli comes out of the storeroom with Katsu and drags Sofia into his arms.
“Aww, aren’t you all sweet?” Gian says, moving into the light.
I glance at Harvest and look away from his dark eyes. Yeah, I know. If anyone from home finds out, we’re both going to be in huge trouble.
“Want to help us decorate?” I ask Felix.
Gian moves close to where Harvest is watching him. There’s a strange tension between the two of them, like they are about to get into a fight.
Felix glances around and then snarls at Sofia and Cordelia.
“I’m stealing her back.”
I wave at them, but I don’t resist the omega who is towing me away, and I only spare one warning glance for Harvest, who watches with his lips pursed. He’s not happy.
I don’t blame him.
