“Yes, it was,” Zaire murmurs from where he’s passed out, boneless, on the floor.
There’s a knock on the door.
“Hello, is anyone home?”
Clint lifts his head, staring at the door in outrage. “TOO LATE! I GOT KNOTTED!”
We hear frantic steps running away from the house.
I lose my mind, laughing until I’m crying. Felix, Jace, and Zaire roar with laughter, but Clint just lies back, satisfied.
“Best night I’ve had in a long time,” he says with a proud nod. His smile gets wicked as his eyes fill with lust. “Let’s make it better.”
Chapter 28
Khione
For the next couple of days, we stay mostly at home. Zaire grabbed all my painting equipment, and I spend every spare second I have painting these stones. They are gorgeous, but in between work, there are these moments.
Cooking together in the kitchen.
Walking into the bathroom so we can all hear Felix sing to the latest pop song. He’s got a good voice, but it’s so strange to hear it.
Lying in arms, lazy, full of food, our sexual appetite satiated as well. It’s like my life can be divided into chapters.
Childhood.
Adulthood.
Sunshine Cove.
And when I met them.
I don’t want this chapter of this book to end. We walk down the street, and I watch them wander off, instead going towards Sophia’s bookstore.
When I walk in, she’s sitting on the counter, leaning back, watching Cordelia fighting with some Halloween decorations.
Cordelia snarls something vicious at Sophia and climbs up on the counter. I watch in shock as she hangs a spider that looks like it’s got dick shaped legs.
I press my lips together and squint hard.
“Hey!” I say, announcing myself instead of being a creeper.
Sophia spins, sees me, shrieks, and falls off the counter, which makes Cordelia’s chair wobble, and suddenly, they are on the floor. I creep forward and lean over the counter, smiling.
“Are you dead?”
“Of shame? If you tell a soul that we’re the kind of girls who can’t hang decorations, I will absolutely ruin all your street cred with Felix,” Sofia grumbles and picks up the now legless spider.
I lean my chin on my hand, laughing at them as they untangle themselves and get up groaning.
“I’m too old for this shit, Sofia.”
“You are young.”
“I spend all night being bent like a pretzel. I’m not young, I’m like an elastic band getting worn at the edges. My joints can’t take accidents like this.”
They both laugh.
