“It’s a deal.”

Before emotion can take hold and strangle the moment, I sweep her into my arms and lay her across the bed. I explore every inch of her body with my fingers and lips.

Her whimpers and moans act as my guide. I listen closely. Using them to tempt and tease her until she’s on the brink.

When my lips and tongue finally settle at her core, she bucks up off the ground. Digging her fingers into my back as I take her past the brink and over the edge.

Her sounds—her grip—only makes me want more. To give her more. To make her lose control again and again.

I’m the luckiest man in the world to be right her, right now.

I’m only that much luckier when she pulls me up and crashes her lips to mine. Frantically tugging at my clothes to toss them aside.

She pumps my cock in her palm. I groan, and nearly tell her to be careful. It’s loaded. But I’m past the point of jokes.

A tear of foil. A slide of latex to protect us both. Then, with both eyes open, I thrust inside. Our mutual gasps echo around us. Our bodies shine with a glint of sweat.

And as our hips begin to move in tandem, I know. I’ve solved the mystery of the woman who could steal my heart.

Later, Rachel curls against my chest, tracing lazy circles across my skin.

I'm trying to enjoy the moment. Enjoy her. Trying not to wonder how soon I can convince her to do it all again. Only, this time maybe she can be on top.

Or on all fours. The idea of her rounded behind pressed up against me is enough to make me hard all over again.

"Bronson?"

"Yeah, sweetheart?" I ask, my voice sharp with the resurgence of arousal.

"Can I ask you something?"

I kiss the top of her head.

"Anything."

She hesitates.

Oh, fuck. Here it comes. The question about whether this was just a one-night stand. The question about what happens tomorrow.

The question I'm more than ready to answer.

"Have you ever interrogated a serial killer?"

I close my eyes. Jesus.

"Rachel."

"What?"

"We just had sex."

"I'm aware. I was there."

"And you're asking me about serial killers?"

She lifts her head. "Well, I figured your defenses might be down."

I stare at her.
