“Inside his jacket. Pretended it was a gun.”
“Oh my God.”
“He dropped it while running away.”
I burst out laughing.
“And you caught him?”
“Eventually.”
“Was the banana entered into evidence?”
Bronson grins.
“Absolutely.”
I nearly choke on my milkshake.
And that’s when I realize something.
I could do this forever.
Sit across from this man, laughing over ridiculous stories, stealing his french fries, and occasionally admiring the way his shirt stretches across his chest.
Which is a rather alarming realization to have on a first date.
Even one that involved a police interrogation.
My phone buzzes again.
This time, it’s a notification from a local entertainment account I follow.
A photograph catches my attention. It’s Vanessa and her fiancé.
Apparently, their engagement has been quite the social event. I click on the post. Then another. And another.
Huh.
That’s interesting.
“What is it?” Bronson asks.
I turn my phone toward him. “Remember Vanessa’s fiancé?”
“Unfortunately.”
“Did you know he proposed to her twice?”
Bronson frowns. “What?”
I show him the photographs.
“Look. This picture was posted three months ago. They’re celebrating their engagement. She’s wearing a ring.”
“Okay.”
“But this photograph is from last week. Another proposal. Different ring.”
