With a heavy curse, I bury myself as deep as I can go before releasing everything I have to give. Wave after wave, I'm hit with a weakness I've never felt before. A weakness only this woman can see me experience.
She wraps her limbs around me, clutching close as she enjoys every shudder that wracks through my body. I can feel each panted breath against my hair as she fights to collect herself. I don't make it any easier by almost crushing her by putting most of my weight against her.
Can't remember the last time I've felt this exhausted, either.
Resting my head against her chest, I listen to the soothing thud of her heart. It's racing almost as quickly as mine.
Silence engulfs us as what we'd just done settles. She's the first to break it.
"I'm going to need a greenhouse for all of my plants. You've seen how many I have, right?" Listing it off like it'll be a dealbreaker to coax her away, she strokes my hair, making it hard to think. "Will that be possible?"
The roof of our complex has plenty of space. I'm sure I could convince Dante to let me throw something together. Plus, I'm sure the other old ladies would like to help her take care of it.
"I'll make it possible," I promise her. "Let me do some research, and I'll build you one myself."
Her chest vibrates with a chuckle, my answer pleasing her. Thank God.
Ever so slowly, I pull out. Not ready to completely separate from her, I kiss her until she's batting me away with the need to breathe. The cool air nips at my bare skin, but the heat between us keeps the chill away.
No matter how hot I make her, I can't have her bare for the world to see, so I carefully help her get dressed again. By the time I have her standing on shaky footing, I grab my cut and dust it off. Instead of putting it back on, I throw it right over her jacket.
"I'm okay, really. I'm—"
"This is how we take claim, alright? Everyone will know you're mine when you wear this," I explain before dragging her close. "Even if it's pretty obvious, and no one else is around, I want to see you wearing it. I like it."
Her cheeks regain the same pinkish hue as she understands. Reaching out for her hand and squeezing it, I nod back over toward my bike. "Ready to get out of here?"
Not just away from this beautiful view, but toward the life I want to start with her.
She bites that plump bottom lip of hers before nodding and letting me tug her away towards something new.

Epilogue
The lights of the facility's rec room flicker and buzz above us, a stark contrast to the weighted silence that surrounds the room.
Next to me, Riot breaks it by tapping the end of his dauber against the table beside his three cards that Mary Lou insisted he fill out.
She's at my other side, staring ever so seriously at her own selection. With my own cards spread out, I'm beginning to realize that my mother-in-law only wanted us to visit to help her win a prize she's got her eyes set on.
Beneath the table, Riot distracts me each time he squeezes my knee. He's doing it on purpose, making sure to do it every time the guy up front calls out a number.
Unlike me, he has no problem hunting down the numbers. He can multitask like a pro; it's not fair.
"Lucas, you're making it hard to concentrate," she mumbles beside me. "Are you paying attention?"
He cracks a grin. "I've almost got a full line in a few directions, Ma. Don't worry, we'll get you that pretty necklace."
Two tables over, an older woman who is taking this bingo tournament far too seriously sends a glare in our direction.
Jealous of how confident he sounds and a little salty because of how many numbers I'm missing out on because of him, I decide to give him a little taste of his own medicine.
All I have to do is shift my hand from my lap to his to make him grunt. Getting straight to the point and squeezing his thigh dangerously high, I feel his hand on my knee freeze.
It takes effort not to laugh when the dauber in his other hand halts mid-air.
