Wayne’s thumb shifts again. “Okay?”
She nods, and her hand tightens in mine as she twists towards me. She reaches for me, making a decision. Her fingers curl into my shirt, just over my chest, grounding herself there for half a second…
Then she kisses me.
My hand comes up to her jaw automatically, thumb brushing along her cheek as I deepen it just slightly, meeting her where she is.
She exhales against my mouth, tension bleeding out of her in pieces.
When she pulls back, it’s slow, her forehead almost brushing mine before she turns to Rex.
“Oh, darlin’,” he murmurs. “You really are special.”
Her hands slide up his chest as she leans in to kiss him too. My heart scatters as their tongues dance with one another, because I know what this means.
It’s her making a choice.
Afterwards, June reaches for Wayne the same way. Hands sliding up, fingers curling into his shirt because she needs to anchor herself again. And as their lips collide together, I can tell nothing will be the same again.
CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE
June
I swallow hard, heart pounding like a kick drum as I step back, my boots sinking slightly into the plush carpet.
I know what I want now.
I know I want them.
I reach down and grasp the hem of my cardigan, nerves buzzing like live wires as I pull it off. The air is chilly against my newly exposed skin, and I can feel the goosebumps rising along my arms.
No one moves to stop me.
The room is silent except for the soft hum of the heater in the corner. They just watch, eyes tracking my every movement.
Fletcher's smile fades, his gaze darkening like a storm rolling in. Rex's throat bobs as he swallows hard, his eyes roaming over me with an intense hunger. Wayne's hands flex at his sides, but he doesn’t reach out.
So I make that move.
My hands brush the hem of Wayne's shirt, fingers curling into the soft, worn fabric. He lets me undress him slowly, his muscles tensing beneath my touch. Each button I slip free is a decision, a choice I’m making.
And damn, it feels good.
Rex moves in behind me, his hands warm on my hips. His mouth brushes the curve of my neck, and I shiver, pressing into him, feeling his pounding heartbeat against my back.
Fletcher circles us—he can’t help himself. His shirt drops to the floor with a soft rustle, and he stands there, chest rising and falling with each breath.
We move, gravity is guiding us, clothes falling in quiet increments, heat and hesitation tangled together. The soft clink of Wayne's belt buckle as he undoes it. The whisper of Rex's shirt as it hits the floor. The quiet rustle of Fletcher's jeans as he steps out of them.
The floor is soft on the woven rug, but it might as well be silk the way Wayne lays me down. He traces the edge of my jaw with his thumb before dipping to the hollow of my throat, dragging the pad of his finger down, making me gasp with need.
Rex settles beside me, his mouth finding my collarbone while his fingers move to my panties. He’s testing the edges, asking in his own way if this is still okay. I lift my hips in answer, and he helps me slide them off, grazing over my hypersensitive thighs as he does.
He pauses to kiss the inside of my knee, then higher, the barest brush of his lips making my breath hitch. I let out a shaky laugh, nerves and heat tangling inside me.
“You really are something else, June.” Fletcher crawls toward me, bracing himself above me with a grin that barely masks the mischief in his eyes. "Can I taste you?"
I nod, heart stuttering, and he dips down to brush his lips gently along the curve of my ribs, teasing the sensitive skin beneath my bra. He chuckles against me when I gasp, then uses his tongue to trail down further, grinning like he's found a new favorite toy.
