“I didn’t say that I was fine with dying,” he insisted.

“You shrugged and said that you figured,” she reminded.

“Bad habit,” he breathed.

Moon wanted to hit him. Instead, she grabbed the front of his shirt. “You are not dying.”

His expression softened. “I’m planning on sticking around.”

“Good,” she breathed.

“For that good later you mentioned,” he said, bobbing his eyebrows at her. Moon almost laughed.

She turned back to Morrigan. “How do we stop the ritual from happening?”

Morrigan looked at Christmas. “The seal has to be broken.”

Chris nodded. “That's where I come in.”

“Yes,” Morrigan said.

“Why me?” Chris asked.

“Because you aren’t connected to the Hollow,” she said.

“Neither are Tempest or Howler,” Chris pointed out.

Morrigan shook her head. “They came here because of Moon.”

“So did I,” Chris insisted.

“No.” Morrigan studied Chris. “The Hollow called you before any of this began.”

Chris went quiet. “The dreams.”

“Yes,” Morrigan said.

“Why did the Hollow choose me?” Chris asked.

“I don’t know,” Morrigan admitted.

Chrome growled softly, and Chris looked at him. “Relax.”

“I am relaxed,” he insisted.

“You look homicidal,” she countered.

“That’s relaxed for me,” Chrome said.

Mayhem muttered, “That’s true.”

Moon looked at Morrigan. “You said she’s the wolf destined to break it.”

“According to the old writings,” Morrigan said.

“Then let her break the damn thing,” Tempest said.

Morrigan nodded. “It won't be easy.”
