“Not according to this,” Chris said.

Mayhem looked at Moon. “What did you see beyond the bridge?”

Her face changed. “Nothing.”

“That bad?” he asked.

“No.” She shook her head. “I literally couldn't see beyond it.” Mayhem didn't like that—not one damn bit.

Chris turned toward the windshield. “There might be another way.”

“How?” Chrome asked.

“The dream,” Chris said.

He looked at her. “Thought you always crossed the bridge in your dream.”

“I do,” she said.

“What happens when you cross the bridge?” Chrome asked.

“I wake up,” Chris said.

Moon went still. “Wait,” Moon whispered.

Christmas looked back. “What?”

“Every time you cross the bridge, the dream ends?” she asked.

“Yes,” Chris said.

Moon swallowed. “Because that's where you die.” Silence filled the SUV. Chrome's hands tightened around the steering wheel.

Chris stared at Moon. “You sure?”

“No,” Moon said. Mayhem saw the old fear flash across Moon's face before she corrected herself. “No. That's wrong.” She closed her eyes, and Mayhem took her hand. Moon breathed slowly. “My visions show possibilities.”

“Right,” Chris said.

Moon opened her eyes. “So we change the outcome.”

Chrome nodded. “Damn right.” Chris looked at him, and something passed between them. Mayhem was beginning to wonder if those two were going to figure it out before everyone else lost patience and locked them in a room together.

Chris turned back to the map. “There has to be another route.”

Mayhem leaned forward. “What about off-road?”

Chrome looked at him in the mirror. “With this vehicle?”

“Not with the SUV,” Chrome said.

Chris understood first. “The bikes.”

Mayhem nodded, and Moon's hand tightened around his. “You aren't riding.”

“Wasn't planning to,” he said.

“Then what are you planning?” she asked.
