“Are you in pain at all?” she asked.

He covered her mouth with his hand. “I'm fine.”

Moon pulled his hand down from her mouth and swatted it away. “That wasn't the question.”

Mayhem sighed. “My pain is at a five.”

“Out of ten?” Moon asked.

“Maybe six,” he admitted. Moon frowned at him and crossed her arms over her chest. “Okay, seven.”

“Mayhem,” she warned.

“Fine, eight, but only when I move,” he insisted.

Her expression hardened. “You're not riding.”

“Yes, I am,” he said. “Moonlight.”

“You can't handle a bike for hours like this,” she insisted.

“I can ride,” he said.

“You're taking a truck,” she ordered.

He stared at her. “A truck.”

“Yes, you do know what a truck is, right?” she teased.

“I belong to an MC,” he said.

“Congratulations, I didn’t know,” she joked. She laughed at herself, and he was finding it hard not to smile at her or find her amusing.

“I don't ride in trucks,” he insisted.

“You do tonight,” she said.

“Absolutely not.” Moon folded her arms, and Mayhem stared at her. She stared back at him, and his wolf offered no help whatsoever. Traitor.

“Fine,” he growled.

Moon blinked. “What?”

“I’ll drive the fucking truck,” he grumbled.

Suspicion filled her face. “That was too easy.”

“I'm learning to compromise,” he offered.

“No, you're not.”

Mayhem grinned. “Maybe I like you telling me what to do.” Her cheeks colored, and it was worth it.

They headed outside. The lot still smelled of smoke from the explosions. One section of fencing was destroyed, and the storage shed was a blackened shell. Dark Chaos members moved through the damage while others prepared for the trip. Tempest stood near a row of bikes with Howler. Chris had a map spread across the hood of an SUV. Chrome stood beside her—too close, judging by the irritated look Chris kept giving him. Mayhem liked him more every minute.

“How many are going?” Mayhem asked.

Howler turned. “Eight.”
