Chris moved beside Moon. “She’s right about one thing.”
Mayhem looked at her. “What?”
“We need answers,” Chris said.
Chrome frowned. “Please tell me you aren’t suggesting we hand Moon over.”
Chris’s expression turned murderous.
“Do I look stupid?” Chris asked.
“Um, no,” Chrome quickly answered.
“Good answer.” Chrome smiled, but Chris ignored him. “She wants Moon alive. That gives us leverage.”
Tempest nodded slowly. “Howler?”
He crossed his arms. “I say we keep her talking.” Mayhem hated the plan, but they were right. Moon needed answers—they all did.
Moon’s grip tightened on his hand, and her eyes lost focus. “Moon?” She didn’t respond. “Moonlight.” Her wolf surged against his, and the clinic disappeared from her eyes. Mayhem recognized it now—she was having another vision.
“Tempest.” Her Prez immediately moved closer. “What’s happening?” he asked.
“She’s seeing something,” Tempest whispered.
Moon gasped, and her knees buckled, but Mayhem caught her. “Moon!”
Her hand clutched the front of his shirt. “Fire.”
“What?” he asked.
“Clubhouse,” she continued.
Chris spun toward the windows. “Where is the fire?”
Moon’s eyes remained unfocused. “Back lot.” A second later, a loud explosion rocked the clubhouse. It shook the entire building as glass shattered around them. Mayhem threw his body over Moon as debris rained down on them. His side screamed, but it didn’t matter. His mate was under him, safe, and that was all he cared about.
Chris was already moving. “BACK LOT!” she shouted. Chrome followed her and Tempest drew her weapon. Howler shifted and ran toward the side entrance.
The intercom crackled, and Morrigan’s voice came through one last time. “That wasn’t me.”
Mayhem looked toward the speaker as Tempest pressed the button. “Then who the fuck was it?”
“The wolves who infected him,” the woman said. Mayhem’s blood ran cold. “They’re no longer following my orders.” The connection cut. Outside, another explosion rocked the night.
Moon grabbed Mayhem’s face. “Mayhem.”
“I’m here,” he said.
“No.” Her eyes were wide and terrified. “I saw something else.”
His wolf went still. “What?”
She looked toward the back of the clubhouse. “Christmas.” Mayhem’s stomach dropped. Chris had just run toward the explosion and Chrome with her.
Moon whispered, “She’s going to die.” Mayhem was moving before anyone could stop him.
