“You don't owe me anything because your mother wrote some shit about a black wolf in that old journal,” he continued.

“I know,” she breathed.

“And you sure as hell don't owe me forever because some ancient bloodline decided we'd make a good magical fucking team.” Moon's mouth twitched, and Mayhem stepped closer. “But if you want me—” His voice roughened. “That's different.”

Moon stared at him. “What do you want?” she asked. His answer came instantly. He wanted everything with her—her smart mouth, her silver wolf, her terrible bedside manner, her visions and the fear that came with them. He wanted her strength. And God, he wanted mornings with her, and arguments that they made up for all night long. He wanted to piss her off for the next hundred years.

Mayhem smiled. “I want you.”

Moon's breath caught. “Just me?”

He nodded. “And everything that comes with you.”

“It’s a lot,” she warned. “You’ll have to deal with Dark Chaos and my clinic.”

“Apparently I'll be spending a lot of time here anyway,” he teased.

“You’ll have to put up with my visions,” she warned.

He shrugged. “I’ve grown used to them.”

“You’ll have to deal with my wolf?”

“She's my favorite,” he said. Moon smacked his chest, and he caught her hand.

“What happens when Dark Chaos needs me?” she asked.

“You go and help them,” he insisted.

“How about when Silverfang needs you?”

“I go and do my duty,” he said.

“And if both clubs need us?” she asked.

“Then we figure it out,” he said.

“You'd never ask me to choose?” she questioned.

“Never.” Moon studied him, and Mayhem let her. He wanted no doubt left between them.

Finally, she asked, “And if I don't want to live at the Silverfang clubhouse?”

“I’m fine with that,” he said.

She blinked up at him. “You are?”

“I’m betting that your bed is more comfortable,” he said. Moon laughed, and Mayhem grinned. “Plus your clinic has drugs.” Moon shook her head at him.

She became serious. “You’re offering me the best of both worlds—my life here and you.”

Mayhem didn't hesitate. “I am,” he agreed.

Her eyes filled. “Just like that?”

“Why not?” he asked.

“Because life doesn't usually work that way,” she insisted.
