“Again,” he begged. She was happy to oblige, and all the time she teased him, he kept up a rhythm within her that was driving her out of her mind.

A.J. squeezed her muscles, trying to give him the same kind of pleasure he was giving her. Kane’s eyes narrowed, and he arched upwards, touching a spot inside her that made her cry out.

“That’s perfect. Do that again,” she begged.

He moved his hand away from her breast, and touched her clit and thrust into her, causing sparks to shoot through her as he stroked his cock against that place that was causing her to pant. Causing her to shout his name. Causing her to lose her ever-loving mind.

A.J. crashed over into oblivion. She squeezed one last time, her fingers digging into her man, and somewhere in the universe she heard him calling her name, and he met her up in the stars.

Kane lookedover at a sleeping A.J. and smiled tenderly. He looked over at the laptop on the cramped hotel room desk. He’d been good, he hadn’t run the background check that he’d wanted to since day one. He still didn’t know what A.J. stood for, but damn if he didn’t search names beginning with ‘A’ to call her. He had some doozies to use tomorrow night at the Royal Opera House. She’d choke. Eventually, she’d fess up.

But skip that noise. What had her running from commitment? What bad shit in her past made her so amazingly capable that it had him positive she could live the life of a SEAL’s wife?

He carefully stroked her beautiful hair, making sure she couldn’t feel it so she wouldn’t wake up.

Wife.

Who would have guessed he’d be thinking long-term? But then again, that’s how it always worked for him. It had when he’d been fifteen and intended to create the best damn software application in the world. It had been when he was nineteen and he was determined to build a company that would be all his. And he had been when he was absolutely sure that joining the Navy and being a SEAL was the right move at twenty-four. Not an officer, an enlisted man.

Now he was going to be a husband.

It was because of Zed’s injury. That put everything into laser focus.

He’d already known he was in love with A.J., no question. It had probably happened over scotch and Ding Dongs, so this wasn’t about just any woman getting the job done. But by God, he was not going to live his entire life without her.

But his woman was skittish.

He looked over at his laptop. He flexed his fingers. They itched. They actually tingled. He so badly wanted to find out what had happened in her past so he could figure out how to remove the obstacles and overcome her objections.

Nope.

Can’t do it. That’s not how he intended to start his life with A.J..

A.J.. Hell, he didn’t even know her name. But he was not going to violate her privacy. He was going to do this the old-fashioned way. They would talk. He would cajole her secrets from her. Or annoy her enough that she would tell him.

He chuckled silently. Wait until he used Adolphina, she was going to flip her shit.

He twirled her hair around his finger. It felt like silk.

He couldn’t wait for tomorrow.

Shelly tooka sip of her champagne.

“Amber is hating life. Normally she has every handsome man hanging off her every word, instead a room full of hot testosterone is looking at her like she is a dog’s breakfast. It’s a glorious sight.”

In her heels, A.J. could easily see what Shelly was talking about. Amber had her tiny little entourage, but that was it. Instead, A.J. saw where Reka and women from Clear Glass and Heaven’s Demon Dream were all standing beside some hunky Navy SEAL or another. Of course they didn’t realize that they were being used as cover.

“Ooops, here’s Alpha Number One coming your way,” Shelly snickered. “He totally has you targeted.”

“Working on your military lingo?” Kane asked Shelly as he put his arm around A.J..

God the man looked hot in a tuxedo.

“A.J. has beat it into my head that it’s my job to blend into any situation,” Shelly said. “Tonight is a little more bizarre than normal.”
