“The stadium.”

“You need to rest. I will take you to your hotel.”

“The stadium. I’ll take a nap in my trailer,” she assured him.

He raised his eyebrow as he looked over his shoulder. She hated when he didn’t look at the road. They were going to die. Fuck a terrorist, it was the traffic that would get her killed.

* * *

The stadium lightsilluminated Kane as he sat on her trailer steps.

“You’re here late,” she greeted him.

“Ed said that there was a good chance you wouldn’t go to your hotel tonight. You should have,” he said as she unlocked the door to her trailer.

“I wanted to check in with some of the guys, who, I might remind you, are working late.”

“This isn’t a man-versus-woman thing, it’s an A.J. has now been on the clock for sixteen hours thing, right?”

“So, it’s SEAL-versus-producer? Haven’t you been on the clock just as long?” A.J. asked as she threw her keys on the table and watched them slide off onto the seat.

Figures.

She opened the tiny fridge and perused the contents. Not much. Hummus, pita bread, olives, cheese, sparkling water and flat water. She took out the two waters and put them on the table.

“Didn’t I see food in the fridge?” Kane asked.

“Oh, ye of little faith,” A.J. smiled secretively. She went over to her laundry basket that was piled high with crumpled clothes. “Don’t worry, they’re clean. This is my hidey hole. Who wants to go through someone’s dirty clothes?”

She grabbed the pile from the basket and set it on the counter and carefully took out a box that was filled with treasure. She put it onto the table with the water. She saw Kane’s curious expression and grinned. Opening the box, she pulled out a bottle of Macallan Single Malt Scotch, a tin of Anzac cookies from Australia, some Twinkies, Tim Tams, Pop Tarts and Ding Dongs. She giggled at Kane’s look of amazement.

“It’s the scotch, right?”

“It’s everything,” he sighed.

“Oh shit, I forgot one thing.” She opened the refrigerator and then the tiny little section that was the freezer, she pulled out a box labeled Brussels sprouts, and gingerly pulled out two frozen packages of Nathan’s hot dogs.

“Are you fucking kidding me? If you had white onions or mustard I’d go down—”

Kane stopped mid-sentence and A.J. lifted an eyebrow. “You’d what?” she purred.

“I’d go down and kiss your feet,” he muttered.

“Hmmm, I thought you were going to say something else. Something I might have really wanted.”

She watched as his face flushed, then after he squirmed for a moment more, she let him off the hook. “Be prepared to kiss my feet.” She opened the tiny fridge and pulled out a Tupperware container that had diced white onions and packets of yellow mustard. “Ta-da!”

“Lady, after this feast you’re never going to be able to get to sleep,” Kane admonished.

“Oh yes I will, I have Rolaids in my backpack. What’s more, I’ve learned to snatch sleep whenever I can. My job is usually twenty-four seven.” She pulled down two plates and opened the two individual hot dog packages and popped them in the microwave.

“You have that hectic of a schedule even in the states?”

“Oh yeah. I’m at the beck and call of the talent, which includes the director, designers and the actors and actresses.”

“I thought you were dealing with reality stars.”

“They’re even worse,” A.J. said as she sniffed the air. God, the hot dogs smelled good. Kane grinned at her as he set the table.
