“I guess so.” I comb a hand through my hair, accidentally bringing unwanted attention to it.
“Are you going to tell me what the hell happened to you, or should I go on assuming you’ve ditched the heels for swimming caps and goggles?”
“You know I would never turn my back on pole.”
But I have turned my back on my not-so little sister.
Time to rip off the band aid.
“I slept with him,” I say, slowly turning to face Fleur.
Her mouth falls all the way to the floor. “You mean you slept with—?”
“Don’t say it.”
“You lost your virginity to Felix fucking Porharsky?”
“Please,” I cringe, slapping my hands over my face. “Don’t ever say his name again.”
“He might be an ass, but he’s not Voldermort.” Fleur rips my hands away, a smile crawling onto her face. “Congratulations on finally losing your V card.”
“Can we not call it that?”
“And on your birthday,” squeals Fleur.
I sit back into the couch, too guilty to return her smile. “I fucked up, Fleur.”
“By having sex?”
“Felix Pozharsky was my boss, and now we’re two grand short a week.
“He fired you?”
“Well, not exactly. I ran away before he could. The last thing I needed was him switching back to boss mode, asserting authority when I was already feeling so vulnerable.”
“How can you be so sure he was planning to fire you?”
“Because Felix is a professional, and we crossed a boundary today.”
“I thought he was still in London,” says Fleur, perplexed.
“Yeah, me too. That was until I heard him moaning my name in the shower. I walk in, and he stands there in all his glory stroking himself while looking deep into my eyes.”
“Sounds romantic.”
“It wasn’t,” I huff. “Anyway, I’ll be picking up a shift at the club tonight.”
Fleur angles her head to the side, concern lining her brow. “These men don’t appreciate your talent.”
“Friday tips well.”
“Yeah, because there are double the amount of patrons, which means double the amount of people sexualizing you on a pole.” Fleur bites her lip. “Sure, you leave your clothes on, but I can guarantee these men are still picturing you naked.”
“Great. Maybe they’ll picture me with symmetrical breasts.”
“Saskia,” she groans, slapping me with the magazine. “I’m serious. We can live off my zoo wages for a while until you find something else. In the meantime, reach out to Felix. See if he’ll give you your job back.”
“After he took my virginity? No way.”
