In the dark of my bedroom, I saw the look of adoration painted across her face. “Logan, that’s so sweet. You really care about him.”

“Of course I do.”

“You’re a good parent is all I’m saying.”

My chest puffed out in pride at her kind words. When my sister died and I got custody of Liam, I had no freaking clue what I was doing. I still felt like parenting was a struggle. I almost hung up my skates to have a more stable job for Liam. I never thought I’d be twenty-four and already a parent. I thought all that was far ahead of me. But I was all Liam had, and I wanted to give him the childhood I never had.

“Thank you,” I whispered. “I never know if I’m doing this parenting thing right.”

“Me neither,” she admitted. “But we just have to be there for them.”

I slid to my side and wrapped my arm around her waist. Then I bent my head to kiss her goodnight, not caring that it was something you didn’t do with your casual fuck buddy. I didn’t care when my dream girl was in my arms.

Chapter Thirty

LILY

A smile spread across my face as I watched Logan skating around the rink with Rosie in his arms. She was giggling as I held Liam’s hand, and we skated to a crawl together on the other end.

Logan had taken us to the practice facility on the Main Line for an open skate. Families and older teens skated around the rink, with a lot of parents teaching their kids for the first time. A part of me imagined Logan teaching Rosie when she was old enough, like he had Liam. I had to shake that thought away. That wasn’t something happening soon.

Liam hung onto my hand. “Lily?”

“Yeah, bud?”

“Can we go faster?”

“Oh, am I too slow for you?” I teased.

I picked up the pace on my skates. I wasn’t a good skater; Liam was more skilled than I was. No wonder since his hockey-playing uncle taught him. Logan was still skating around the other end with Rosie while we tried to catch up to them.

“Yours?” a brunette woman asked as she pointed to the pair of them.

I nodded with a smile.

“Aw, your son looks just like him. You have a beautiful family,” she told me before skating off.

I blinked back at her, trying to process the interaction. Liam and Logan looked a lot alike, but mostly because of that red hair. The way he was with Rosie from the outside, I’d assume the same thing. Logan skated back around toward us, and I took Rosie out of his arms.

“Did you have fun with Logan?” I asked her and nuzzled her nose against mine.

“Da-da!” she cried excitedly.

I cringed. She had been doing that a lot, no matter how much I corrected her that he was Logan.

“Logan, baby. Not daddy, okay?”

She shook her head. “DA-DA!”

“Logan,” I corrected again. “Mommy’s friend Logan. Lo-lo, baby.”

“LO-LO!” she squealed.

I sighed.

Maybe if Seth actually picked up his phone and saw his daughter, I wouldn’t be trying to convince her the man who picked her up when she cried wasn’t her daddy. Even if Logan was a far superior parent than Seth ever would be.

Liam tugged on Logan’s arm. “Can we go fast?”
