“I am.”

Her green eyes lit up. “Okay, awesome! Because mine retired and I need a new one. I’m self-employed, so I need to do it quarterly.”

I pulled a card out of my wallet and handed it to her. “That I can do. What’s your industry?”

“I’m an author. I need someone who understands royalties. Oh, and my friend Fi, Riley’s wife, might want your card too.”

I pretended I knew who she was talking about. One of the other wives, obviously, but I couldn’t remember who they were.

“I can definitely do your taxes.”

She smiled. “That would be awesome. I’m a writer. I don’t do numbers.”

I pointed at myself. “I’m the numbers girl!”

Dinah laughed. “I’ll call you later so we can go over the details.”

“Sounds good.”

Mari nudged me happily when I turned back around. The only reason I was building up my client list was that Veronica and Blaise kept recommending me. I didn’t care how people found out about me, though, as long as I got the work.

I wanted to stay longer and see Logan after the game, but Rosie was getting too sleepy and cranky, so I had to get her home. I sent him a message congratulating him on the game and headed home. I didn’t want to leave, but that was what it was like when you were a mom. Sometimes your kids made the plans, not you. If anyone understood that, it was Logan.

Chapter Twenty-Three

LOGAN

The locker room was on fire after another successful win. I shook my head at TJ as he was dancing around toward his cubby.

Riley stood in the center of the room, holding the silver helmet we gave to the MVP of the game. He held his hands up, trying to get us all to calm down. “Alright, you assholes, pipe down! You all know who earned this one tonight.”

I wiped the sweat off my brow with a towel and realized all eyes were on me. Blaise nudged me, and Riley gave me a big grin. “Come on, Cully! You know it’s you!”

“CULLY! CULLY! CULLY!” the guys cheered.

I stood up and took the helmet from Riley, and put it on my head.

“For starting it off and assisting Kennedy with the game-winner, it’s yours, buddy,” Riley told me.

“Alright, boys! Let’s do it again on our road trip this week!” I yelled.

All the boys cheered while I posed for photos for PR. Then I handed the helmet back to our equipment manager. Coach nodded at me. “Good job tonight, Cully.”

“Thanks, Coach.”

Coach said his last remarks and told us to celebrate, but not too much since we had to be up early to catch the jet. I jumped into the shower, but after I changed, I had to do media availability. I was in good spirits by the time I was back in the locker room and changing back into my suit.

I pulled out my phone and saw a text from Lily.

LILY: Hey, awesome goal! Rosie got fussy, so I had to leave early. I hope you understand.

Of course I understood. Rosie would always come first, the same way Liam would come first for me. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed she wasn’t waiting for me after the game.

I shouldn’t be disappointed. She was just my casual fuck buddy. Even if she was my ultimate dream girl.

“Before you all head out,” Mac called out. “RSVP to the Halloween party, or my wife will have my ass.”

“Are you going?” I asked Blaise.
