There was that bright smile again. I had to stop thinking about her. Stop thinking that this was anything more than a thank you dinner for helping me out with Liam. But fuck me, watching her lick the white cream off her lips was hot. My dick thickened against my leg as I imagined her licking something else off those lips.

I was way too horny to be out to dinner with this woman. Not after the kiss we shared. Especially not with the heated gaze she sent my way.

“Logan?” she asked, her voice a hushed whisper.

“Hmm?”

“Is this a date?”

“No.”

She squinted at me as if she didn’t believe me. “Then stop looking at me like that.”

“Like what?”

“Like you want to kiss me again.”

“But I do,” I blurted out and wanted to kick myself for letting it slip out. I did. I wanted to kiss her again. I wanted to pin her down against my bed and have my way with her.

But then I remembered our kids were at my place with her sister. After dinner, I’d drive her back to my place where she’d pick up her baby, and they’d both go home. And then this non-date dinner would be over. I’d bang a bunny next week when I was on the road or beat off again to the memory of Lily’s moans. Then these thoughts would go away.

“Then do something about it, or stop it,” she demanded.

She was looking down at the tablecloth in front of her, but when she lifted her head up, and we locked eyes again, the heat inside hers matched my own.

Yeah, I was going to do something about it, and it was a horrible idea. A colossally bad idea. But my dick didn’t care.

Chapter Fourteen

LILY

Why did I say that? Why, oh why, did I let my libido speak for my brain?

Okay, moment of truth — it was because Logan was hot. I wanted to run my fingers through his fiery red hair and feel his lips on mine again. Then grind against his large bulge.

And…I was sex-deprived. That was the real reason.

It wasn’t because when Logan spoke, a sense of calm came over me. Or because when I looked into his eyes, I felt like I could tell him all my worries and fears. Definitely not because of the way he stared hungrily at me while I licked tres leches cake off my lips.

Totally not the reason at all.

“Let’s go,” he growled.

I blinked back at him. Did men actually growl at you? I thought that was something I only read in my steamy romance novels. But when I looked over at Logan, his eyes seared through me, and he looked like he was hungry for another meal — me.

I stared back at him in silence while he gestured to the waiter for the check.

This was a bad idea, but the part of me that hadn’t had sex since I was pregnant craved the attention he was giving me. Craved the way he made me want to jump out of my skin.

But it wasn’t just that. Logan was a good guy. He didn’t seem like those asshole jocks I went to high school with. And he was a good dad. Liam might not be his son by genes, but he was the boy’s parent through and through. He sacrificed his own happiness to make sure his kid was loved and protected, and that was sexy to me. A single dad who did what he had to without a thought for himself was a turn-on. With the way Seth had been flaking out on our daughter, seeing Logan do everything for Liam gave me hope that there were decent men in the world.

“Lil?” Logan’s deep voice pulled me from my thoughts.

He stood next to me, with his hand outstretched toward me and my coat in his other hand. I took his offered hand and let him help me back into my coat. I hitched in a breath when he slid his hand into mine and led us outside onto the street. The early October air was chilly, and I shivered at the wind nipping at my cheeks.

Logan was a man on a mission. He took big strides back to the parking garage, and I had trouble keeping up. I wasn’t very tall for a woman, but the six-foot giant had legs on him. He pinned me against the car before I could get inside.

“Tell me you don’t want me.”
