Maybe this was just how things were, the natural order of things, and she’d been a stupid girl to ever think it could be otherwise.

And laughable to think that she could make a difference when she couldn’t even help herself.

Pathetic.

The word wriggled into her mind in Henrikk’s aristocratic lilt.

“Well, if you’re quite done crying,” Henrikk said pleasantly, and he began to move again.

Gentle movements. Rocking back and forth. So much worse than the hard thrusts he’d delivered earlier.

“Is this how Arken fucked you?” he whispered, loud enough that she knew Arken would hear. “As if he loved you?”

She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to block him out, and Henrikk laughed.

“Or did he fuck you like the whore that you are?” He grabbed her hips and dragged her onto his cock as he sped up, pummelling her until she was gasping.

Arken…

Hot tears ran down her face. She tried to be quiet, but anguished sobs tore from her throat, the sounds wavering from the impact of Henrikk’s pounding.

She was ashamed that she had called Arken’s name more than once.

She was sure he would come. Even his willpower could break.

It was terrible. But she wanted him to break. To come save her.

It was stupid.

But she was scared.

She had hoped…

I’m stupid.

She had hoped for a lot of things.

But he could have done something, anything. Not even to stop Henrikk raping her. Just something to make her feel like she wasn’t alone.

Because it was like he didn’t care.

Like she was nothing to him.

Nothing.

She winced. Henrikk was hurting her, pounding her savagely. She knew he did it purely to make sure she felt everything. He was not the first to do this to her, but he did it best, with expert precision, his gaze never leaving her face as he watched for her reactions.

She was crying again—she hadn’t realised she’d stopped until it started again. Her throat tight, face puffy, entire body aching, the skin of her back, shoulder, ass scuffed and bruised.

Henrikk changed pace, moving slowly. It hurt less physically. He hurt her heart more.

“Do you think you deserve this, Susanna?” he crooned.

She shook her head, avoiding his eyes.

“Hm. Perhaps not. But I think it’s good for Arken to see you like this.” He walked his fingers along her arm, then across her face. He pushed a finger into her mouth. “Suck.”

He didn’t tell her not to bite.
