Kira felt a strange sense of relief that he wasn’t resorting to murder. Gloria was her half sister. They shared the same blood, and Gloria probably had memories of their mother. Maybe, one day—and it was a farfetched idea, but maybe—Gloria would share those memories with her.
“Kira!”
Nathaniel’s ragged voice shattered through her mind, and she jolted back to reality in time to see him narrowly avoid Gloria’s knee to his groin.
And I’m standing around like a fucking idiot.
She morphed, the gag and collar vanishing as her human form dissolved. Her wolf forms darted forward, teeth flashing and coiled tails whipping the air.
They split up. One wolf pulled Nathaniel off Gloria whilst the tails of the other wrapped around the vampiress’ wrists and neck.
“What is that?” shrieked Gloria as she stared at Kira’s wolf forms.
“I thought she would know about me,” Kira said to Nathaniel, projecting her thoughts across their link. “If she’s my half sister, shouldn’t she remember me?”
“Gloria is missing most of her childhood memories,” he explained. “It’s her mind’s way of protect her from trauma.”
“It’s hideous!” Gloria scowled at Kira as if she were the dirt on her shoe.
Fuck you too, sis.
Kira threw Nathaniel a weary glance. “Where do you want her?”
“Here will do,” Nathaniel said, his expressing darkening as he undid his belt. “Make her kneel.”
Gloria’s face grew alarmed. “Wh-what are you doing?” she demanded as Kira forced her down onto the floor.
Gloria opened her mouth to scream, but Nathaniel clamped a hand around her mouth. “Shh, ” he soothed. “This is what you want, remember? You told me so many times. I was a fool to think you wanted chocolates and poems. Oh, how you laughed. You led me to believe you wanted romance and kindness, and yet you mocked my attempts behind my back. Who would have guessed? That all along, the proud, icy princess craved the very thing she despised?”
“No,” whispered Gloria, even as her head dipped in a nod.
“Yes,” Nathaniel breathed. “Deep down, I knew. We both did, didn’t we? That this is what you wanted.”
Kira’s gut twisted with shock as a wave of dread washed over her. She’d known this was a possibility—no, a probability. But now that the moment was here…
Her stomach churned.
Is he really going to force himself on Gloria?
“Nathaniel, what the fuck?” she yelled down their link, her voice fearful.
He gave her a wary look.
“An archaic vampire law,” he replied. “One that Gloria has hinted at many times. She even read the scripture to me once. Essentially, any female vampire who was successfully forced into submission by a male vampire was then required to marry him.”
Kira blanched. “That’s horrible.”
“As I said,” Nathaniel continued. “Archaic.”
“But…how could she want this?”
“Gloria has had a difficult upbringing as a prisoner in my father’s court. She has grown up in an isolated world where cruelty is rewarded, and it’s given her a warped view of the world.”
Kira gave a low whine. She knew almost nothing about Gloria, but she couldn’t help but feel a twang of guilt as she restrained her.
“Let’s get this over with,” Nathaniel muttered out loud as he knelt down and positioned himself behind Gloria.
Gloria struggled against the bondage of Kira’s tails as Nathaniel ripped away the last of her sheer skirt and pressed himself against her.
