He soon returned with a breakfast tray brimming with hot food, pastries, and orange juice. He set the tray down on his desk.

“What do you feel like?” he asked.

Kira eyed the food suspiciously. “Are you going to poison me? Or drug me so you can have your way with me?”

“I don’t need to drug you to have my way with you.”

She cringed.

Noticing her reaction, Nathaniel’s brow furrowed. “Make no mistake, Kira. One day soon, regardless of whether you are in a pack or not, I’m going to find you, and I’m going to fuck you until you scream. And when it feels like too much, I’ll fuck you some more. And you will be awake and lucid, enjoying every second of it. So, no, I have no intention of poisoning or drugging you.”

Kira scowled. “A simple no would have sufficed.”

“I feel like nothing is simple with you.”

He’d said it as if it was a compliment, his gaze inquisitive. She didn’t know what to say to that.

Nathaniel saved her from speaking, gesturing for her to turn around. “I’ll remove the plug now.”

“Finally,” she muttered, but she felt nervous at the prospect, her skin crawling as Nathaniel drew closer.

“Keep your head turned towards me.”

“Why?”

“Because,” he said, crouching behind her and gripping the edges of the plug’s jewelled end, “I want to see your face as I remove it.”

“You are such a cunt—”

No sooner had she turned her head to face Nathaniel than he ripped the toy out of her. She screamed, but the pain, while sharp, was brief. The massive girth of the plug had grated her sore sphincter, but now that it was gone, she groaned in relief.

“Now,” Nathaniel said, standing by the desk, “Breakfast is getting cold. What would you like to eat?”

Kira shut her eyes, resisting the urge to nurse her aching bottom. “I don’t care. Just…give me a little bit of everything.”

She wasn’t hungry, but her request kept Nathaniel busy and his attention off her for just that little bit longer as he focused on preparing a plate for her.

He set it down on the wooden floorboards beside her mat, along with a glass of juice. “Enjoy.”

At least there was a plate this time. Even so, she didn’t touch the food, but she couldn’t help but stare at the variety: muffins, flaky pastries, fresh fruit, sausages, fried mushrooms, and Eggs Benedict.

“Which one of your many servants made the eggs?” she asked snidely as Nathaniel prepared a plate for himself.

“I did.”

She raised her eyebrows. She couldn’t imagine the vampire prince doing something as domestic as cooking. “And the hollandaise sauce?”

“Also made by me.”

“Really? How did you learn to cook?”

“I ordered my many servants to teach me.”

He said this with a straight face, and it took Kira a moment to realise he was joking.

She was surprised when he sat down beside her on the hard boards, balancing his plate on one knee.

“What are you doing?” she asked.
