His lip curved as he regarded Kira. She wanted to play?

Let’s play.

“Very well,” he said, sitting behind his desk and pouring himself a glass of rum. “Prove it.”

It was Kira’s move—he would not force her to do anything sexual unless she initiated it first.

And he would not kill her—not unless she killed him first.

He gestured at the floor expectantly “Kneel for me, slut.”

Chapter 22

The Vampire’s Slut

Kira

There was no point asking Nathaniel to ‘unclaim’ her—even if that was possible—he wouldn’t let her go. That monster had a reason for claiming her, but she had no intention of keeping him alive for long enough to find out exactly what that was.

There was no point in begging either—he would not sympathise with her plight. He was not kind, and while she’d seen another side to him while he’d fed from her, it had been mitigated by the fact that the bastard had fucking fed from her. Plus, she’d woken the next day with a splitting headache, but it was nothing a little revenge wouldn’t fix. She’d felt nothing but grim satisfaction as she stole the paring knife from Professor Parna’s cupboard and tucked it into the waistband of her skirt.

Now, she stood before Nathaniel, pretending to be a shy maiden, when deep down, her anger and heat for him boiled. She wanted nothing more than to shout and scream at him, to berate him for how royally he’d fucked up her life, but the next few minutes had to be perfect. So, she became what he wanted.

Eager and submissive.

Kira kept her smile in place as Nathaniel sank gracefully into his armchair, his long legs stretched out, exuding elegance. His shoulders were relaxed, his smile lazy, and his fingers were lithe and elegant as he balanced a glass of liquor on his knee. “Very well. Prove it.”

Kira hesitated. She knew what he wanted. It was obvious, and by now, Susie had told her everything there was to know about what the vampire would expect from her.

Nathaniel gestured at the pelt-covered floor, motioning to where he wanted her. “Kneel for me, slut.”

She hesitated, her gaze travelling down his shirt, taking in his wide shoulders, slim athletic frame, and tapered waist. When he moved, the loose fabric gathered in some places, and clung to others, hinting at powerful muscles. A ridiculous part of her wanted to unbutton his shirt and confirm her theory. From the way he was staring at her, he probably would have let her.

Instead, she lowered her gaze to his belted trousers, where the dark fabric stretched over muscled thighs. There was something very sexy about his long, lean legs and the masculine power exuded by his polished shoes. She stole one more glance at his face—narrow features, chiselled nose, discerning eyes and side-swept blond hair. He was very handsome—for a vampire. Her gaze returned to his chest. That was where she would plant the knife.

And then her gaze dropped lower. In order to distract the vampire until he let his guard down, she would need to do the unthinkable. Susie’s descriptions on what to do had raised more questions than answers, but she had a general sense of what to do. Still, nothing could have prepared her for this moment. Bile crept up her throat as she imagined placing his cock in her mouth. There were other ways, but none that would lure him to let down his guard in quite the same way.

If Nathaniel enjoyed it as Susie had promised he would, she would have the perfect opportunity to strike. Of course, Susie hadn’t known she planned to kill Nathaniel. She still hadn’t worked out the strange unspoken tension that seemed to exist between Susie, Headmaster Arken, and Nathaniel.

Not that it mattered in the grand scheme of things. She was about to eliminate a vampire, and good riddance. After all, Nathaniel had ruined her chances of joining a pack, and overnight, she’d gone being the school’s most desired virgin to the unwanted one. Because of him, her great plans to lead a revolution were in shambles.

But she could still hit the vampires where it hurt. She would kill their precious vampire prince and avenge Ana and Haley for what he’d done to them. For what he’d nearly done to her when he’d nearly drained her.

“Well?” Nathaniel asked, raising his eyebrows. There was the faintest hint of a smirk in his otherwise expressionless face. “I’m waiting.”

Yes, I know what you want.

She resisted the urge to touch the knife at her waist as she slowly lowered herself onto her knees, glancing down to ensure the edge of her blazer still hid the hilt.

Silence stretched in the room; the tension thick enough to cut.

“Good,” Nathaniel finally said, taking a sip from his glass.

Kira resisted the urge to smile. She wasn’t finished yet. Without waiting to be asked, she began crawling forward on her hands and knees. The pelts softened the hard floor, and Kira tried not to think about the wolves they’d once belonged to. She knew they would forgive her for treading on them now; this was retribution, and the vampire’s blood would soon flow down and soak their fur.

Kira drew closer to the vampire, rounding the desk as she crawled. Nathaniel repositioned himself in his chair, and she could have sworn she heard him draw a sharp breath.

She couldn’t bring herself to look at his face—she wouldn’t be able to follow through if she saw the look of smug satisfaction there.
