“I don’t understand.”

“Of course not.” Susie shook her head sadly. “I should have told you sooner.”

“Told me what?”

“The Populars aren’t just the most powerful pack in the school. They’re also the largest.”

“So?” That was the whole reason why she wanted to join. Get the Poplarins to follow her, and the other packs would fall in line.

“You don’t understand. A pack that large doesn’t have just one alpha. It has several.”

Her jaw dropped. “What?”

“Kira…I really think you should change your mind about going. The initiation requires you to submit to all the alphas. And given that you’ve attracted so much interest, I highly doubt any of them will sit back and not want their turn. I mean, given you’re a virgin and all.”

Her stomach rolled with nausea, and her voice was barely a squeak as she forced herself to ask the question she was afraid to hear the answer to. “So…how many alphas are there?”

Two?

Three?

Four?

Susie gave her a pitying look. “Twelve.”

The Vampire Hunter

Kira lay awake that night, tossing and turning in her new bed as she wrestled with the dilemma of what to do. Submitting herself to Mark had seemed like a simple thing—daunting, but simple. The muscled, sandy-haired alpha wolf was physically attractive, and if first impressions were anything to go by, he was kind, thoughtful, and an alpha she could respect. There would be no shame in coupling with him.

If circumstances were different, would she still want to have sex with him?

Maybe.

Probably.

She’d assumed that Mark was the sole alpha of the Poplarins Pack, and that the sex would likely be awkward and uncomfortable. There was also the chance that it would be wonderful, and a part of her hoped it would be so. The worst-case scenario was that he would be rough with her, but she could handle pain if she had to. Regardless of what the initiation would be like, she’d calculated that the whole thing would only take a couple of minutes, and then it would all be over. It was a small price to pay to elevate her rank and further her mission.

But she’d been mistaken.

There was more than one alpha, and once Mark was finished, pulling his cock out of her, another would take his place, climbing on top of her and claiming her all over again. And when he was finished, the next one would be waiting.

Twelve alpha wolves, Susie had said.

How the hell was she supposed to lie there and subject herself to that…experience…twelve times?

The whole thing was starting to feel less like a sacrifice, and more like something akin to the degrading punishment Nathaniel had put her through.

At least he hadn’t tried to share her.

Ugh.

Kira rolled over in her bed, pushing any thoughts of Nathaniel or the alphas out of her mind. She’d been around humans too long, and all the customs the wolves took for granted seemed wrong. The tiny bit of hope she’d had that she might actually enjoy the initiation had all but deserted her, leaving her feeling disgusted. Could she really go through with it?

She was sure her body wasn’t built to take twelve alphas.
