Caspian is also unfazed, despite the weapon pointed directly at him.

“You got a matter of seconds to fire that gun before I reach you,” he says softly.

Shade shakes his head. “What did you…”

But before he can finish his sentence, Caspian leaps towards him.

BANG!

In the flash of bodies colliding in front of me, I hear a gunshot. Both men fall to the ground. I look for Caspian, but I see Shade. His eyes are closed.

Knocked out.

And next to him lies Caspian. Blood pours from an open wound on his side. I know instantly what’s happened.

He’s been shot.

“Got him,” Caspian breathlessly grunts, nodding towards Shade. “He can’t hurt you now.”

“He’s knocked out,” I say.

“Good.”

“I can’t move, Caspian.”

The ropes that bind my hands behind the chair are too tight to slip out of. Despite that, I still try with all my might. No budge.

“Yep.”

“I want to help you,” I say.

Caspian isn’t in a good shape. He lies, scrawled on the ground, barely able to move. He’s bleeding out fast. I know my training. If he isn’t attended to soon, then he’ll black out and then it won’t be long until something more fatal occurs.

He looks up at me, though. In his eyes is the look of love.

“I know you want to help,” he mumbles, just able to string together a sentence. “Don’t worry, your brother is coming. I might be a goner here, though.”

Tears stream down my face. I fight against the binds on my wrists, but to no avail. “Don’t say that. Please don’t talk like that.”

“You know, I’m happy to have used my aggression for good for once.”

I can’t stop crying. “I know about you,” I say. “Caspian Ford.”

“Damn,” he whispers.

“You’re a member of Ravaged.”

“You found out?”

“I saw… on TV…”

He smiles then. “Yeah, I am a bandmember for Ravaged. I was a bandmember. The drums… I should’ve told you. Fuck, I should’ve said something… I’m sorry for lying to you, Elsa.”

“Caspian…”

But he doesn’t answer anymore. I really can’t stop crying as the man’s eyes slowly close.
