We stay up there on that lookout for some time. Kissing passionately like two teenagers. I love letting go in moments like these. Where I don’t have to be my father’s daughter, or the one nurse in this small town, where everyone relies on me to dump their problems. I can just be free with this hunky man I’m falling for without a worry in the world.
Caspian takes my hand and guides me back down to the road, to his pickup truck. We snuggle in the backseat, giggling like schoolchildren. Caspian struggles with his big frame to fit inside.
“Stop it,” I say through the tears of laughter. “You’re too big.”
“I want to get in here with you,” he replies. “On the backseat.”
I laugh again and lift my legs so that he has space to slide in alongside me. We’re a tangle of bodies, both laughing hysterically. I’ve never seen Caspian as giddy as this before. It’s cute.
And then he’s kissing me again.
And his hand is sliding over my leg.
And now he’s kissing my neck as his hand reaches under my dress.
He feels how wet I am. A deep groan escapes his lips.
“I can’t stop thinking about how good you make me feel,” he snarls into my ear. “Those sounds you made last time made me so goddamn weak.”
His words make me weak.
“Keep talking,” I say, closing my eyes. “I want to hear you say how much you need me.”
“Can’t you tell? Can’t you see how horny you make me by you just being… you?”
“Keep talking,” I repeat. “Don’t you dare stop…”
And he doesn’t stop his words. Not even as his fingers play with my hot, wet sex. Not even as I start to moan inside his truck. No one can hear us here on the side of this empty road outside of town.
No one can hear me reach my climax.

Every night we spend together, either at his place or mine. I’m trying my best to keep it on the down low away from prying eyes and ears, but when I randomly bump into Cyrus on the main street of East Springs one day, I realize that you can’t really keep something like this as a secret in a small town for long.
“You do know that everyone’s catching on about you and the so-called gorgeous, silent new guy in town, right?” Cyrus asks me with a cocky smile that makes me want to slap his cheeky little face.
Instead of violence, I simply make a dramatic show of rolling my eyes at him. “Where would they be getting that idea?”
Cyrus snorts. “You can’t hide the fact you’ve both been sneaking around, Elsa. Even you keeping your head down still alerts the many watchers in East Springs. Remember, people around here are gossip whores with very little to do with their days.”
“Right. Well, yeah, there is something going on between Caspian and me. I admit it. Does that make you happy, Cyrus?”
“It makes me happy for you,” he replies, deadpan. “I mean, you have been in sore need of some action for a long time.”
I sarcastically chuckle at my brother’s little dig. “Thanks for that. I didn’t know I was becoming an old spinster already.”
“Yeah, you kinda were.”
“And how is Juniper?” I ask. Look, the woman is my go-to for when I want to have a crack back at Cyrus. Mainly because any time I mention her name, it elicits a strong reaction from him that satisfies my sisterly need for a gentle ribbing.
“Elsa…”
“Have you asked her out yet?”
“No.”
“Ah, so you have been thinking about it. It’s good I’ve got that out of you.”
