“That feels like all we’ve been doing,” I groaned. It was a necessary evil, but I was more than ready to start constructing the levels a bit more and actual gameplay.
Jett was pulling in at the same time we did, along with a few of the other siblings.
“Dean!” Blue called out. He had been heading out for college when I was coming back. He ran up, and I wrapped him up in a bear hug.
“Hey, little bro,” I teased, tousling his hair. He’d designated as an alpha, taking us all by surprise. He reminded me a lot of Jack. An alpha with a soft side.
Clark was behind him, walking slower but coming up to give me a hug as well. He was the oldest of the Ames clan. The name I’d taken on the moment I was eighteen.
“I hear you’ve got yourself an omega,” he said, glancing behind us. “Where is she?”
“With Sabrina,” I said, confused at how he hadn’t heard who she was. She’d been to their house as a kid all the time so I was beyond shocked that our parents haven’t been shouting about it.
“No…” he dragged it out in shock, putting two and two together. Then, he burst out laughing and joked, “Good for you, she kept her standards low.”
I rolled my eyes and shoved him as we started walking again.
“She’d kick your ass for that,” Kai chimed in with a chuckle.
“I wouldn’t doubt it,” Clark grinned over his shoulder at them. Aiden had his hand in Kai’s and was letting the beta tug him along while Jack just smiled and listened to the banter.
The omegas still weren’t back yet, so we followed Jett, Clark, and Blue through the house and out back again. They had a full outdoor kitchen that was in full swing, the counters loaded with food.
“My boys!” Mom screeched and tossed the spatula that Dad caught easily and continued flipping the burgers. Pop chuckled as he turned the music down a bit.
She took her time giving each of us a big squeeze that smelled like sunshine and lemonade. This woman was the bubbliest omega I’d ever met and was always made to be a mom.
“Goldie and her pack said they wished they could make it. Apparently, she came up with some big idea for her latest protest and dragged her pack into doing some kind of stakeout,” Mom said with a smile and a shrug. “I’m sure that means a big family dinner will be coming after whatever she has planned.”
“Anything with a stakeout and Mrs. Ashford means it’s going to be insane,” Blue commented.
“Facts,” Clark agreed readily.
Loud music blasted through the commentary interrupting Jett before he could say anything, signaling the omegas were here.
“Still Into You” by Paramore was blasting along with the two of them yell-singing along.
I smiled hearing both of them, especially the happiness from my omega. The run-ins with Jonathan had definitely worn her down lately, so to hear her being so carefree made my alpha content.
“I won!” Sabrina yelled as she and Tillie burst out of the house and hit the railing.
“You cheated!” my omega protested, her face red as she came out, her blonde hair a wild halo around her.
“Being a sore loser doesn’t suit you, bestie,” Sabrina sniffed but couldn’t keep a straight face as Tillie pursed her lips. “Tie then?”
“A tie works,” she said good-naturedly and practically skipped over to Jack with a wide grin.
She was fucking gorgeous.
Amber, rose, and vanilla surrounded us, and soon we all found ourselves standing closer to her.
“I actually found a few things for myself and some for you.”
“We might have actually found more than a few things,” Sabrina dragged out.
“You got us something?” Kai asked, his gaze focused on the small bag in her hand as if trying to figure out what she could have gotten us that fit in a small bag.
She reached into the bag and pulled out something I thought I’d never see again.
