“She might have plans for what to use this space for,” he pointed out, but he didn’t look convinced as he glanced around.
“This place is covered in dust and doesn’t look like it’s been used in years. Heck, when she moved things around, she didn’t even shove it up here to get it out of the way.” He stayed quiet and I pressed a kiss to his cheek. “I think it’s just something we can bring up to the others and Tillie. I’m sure after a rough day she’d like some space to take a break from the bossy alphas.”
Aiden snorted, laughing silently with shaking shoulders. I smiled, completely overcome by how happy I was right now. My best friend finally knew how I felt about him and returned my feelings. The small blip of losing my cool when I confessed was something I’d be editing out of future retellings.
No way would I let Aiden be the put together one in that story.
“You’re not wrong about that,” Aiden said before a long sigh interrupted him. “Come lay down with me? Thirty minutes definitely wasn’t enough sleep.”
“Did you sleep at all last night?” I asked as I let him pull out of the hug and lead the way downstairs.
“Maybe…” Aiden dragged out the word and it told me all I needed to know.
My insomniac hadn’t gotten any sleep last night.
I turned off the attic light and closed the door as I shook my head at him. “Let’s go lay down then, beta. No way can you function on that amount of sleep.”
We went into the room and Aiden got into bed first. I slid in after him and wrapped my arms around him, happy to be his big spoon.
Contentment made my scent swell in the room and his did the same in response.
That more than anything told me how much he did feel for me, even if he was bad at the words.
“Get some sleep, Aiden. I’m not going anywhere.”
I pressed a kiss to his head and closed my eyes.
There’s nowhere else I’d rather be than here with this man and my pack.
Tillie
Sabrina pulled up in front of the house as if she just knew through bestie intuition that I needed a break from… everything.
“Tell me you’re not here for an animal rescue?” I begged with a pout I couldn’t help. “I don’t think I could take on anymore right now.”
“Just rescuing my bestie from her men,” she teased. “Get in, omega, we’re going shopping!”
I perked up at that.
Shopping alone was hell. Shopping with Sabrina was amazing.
We didn’t just hit up nesting stores and buy new things; we hit all the vintage boutiques and hidden gem thrift stores.
Half the things decorating my house and filling my closet were from our adventures.
“Coffee and thrifting?” I asked.
She nodded and pulled her shades on. “Go get ready while I warm up the playlist.”
She started blasting Sublime so loud it filled the farm as I ran inside to get ready.
I was absolutely avoiding the conversation about hiring help again. Jack tried over our morning coffee date to get me to talk about it but I gave him a cheesy pickup line of avoidance and left the topic for another time.
“Where are you heading?” Dean asked as he stood by the front window, sipping his second coffee. I’d call him a creeper if we hadn’t just gone through the bullshit with Jonathan.
“We’re going out thrifting and grabbing coffee. It’s all out of town and nowhere near where Jonathan lives,” I promised.
I could see the conflict between letting me be an independent omega and his overprotective side. When my eyes narrowed, he held his free hand up.
