“I love you, Tillie,” Jack blurted out. I froze with my hand halfway to a bag of chocolate-covered dried fruits and turned. It was such a Jack move to do something so blunt.
His cheeks were red, but he braced himself and didn’t take the words back.
I considered them for a second and let them settle in. It had been such a short time, but with all we’d been through and experienced so far, along with being scent compatible, I knew I felt the same.
“I love you too, alpha,” I said with a grin. “Now. These? Yes or no?”
He took a second to regain his composure and cleared his throat. “Yes.”
Then we moved on, sticking close together and soaking in the moment while picking out a ton of things for the two women who raised such a perfect alpha.
I didn’t notice the second basket he’d snuck until we were checking out.
“What’s all this?” A lot of it was duplicates.
“For my omega,” he said with a raised eyebrow before turning to the cashier. “Can you bag all of this separately for us?”
“Of course,” she said with a chuckle as she sorted everything out properly and gave him the total. Jack swiped his card while I tried to clear the butterflies in my stomach. He was simply so caring and sweet that sometimes it was hard to process.
In a stroke of luck, Dean’s call came in as we were stepping outside. There was a park at this end of town and we were prepared to sit and relax until they were ready.
“We’re heading your way. Where do I stop?” I gave him instructions and soon they were pulling up in front of us. Of course, the pack hopped out to help load the bags and even made one last stop to grab shipping supplies.
We sat out in the parking lot, music filtering out of Kai’s phone, while we packed up everything carefully. It took three pre-paid shipping boxes to make it fit, but seeing Jack so damn happy was worth it.
I wanted more days like this with my pack. Simple moments of everyday life where we just existed together, perfectly in sync, with no creeps to blow it all to pieces.
Tillie
It had been a few days since our attempt at a date night out. Jonathan had completely ruined the night for me, so I was determined to try again.
This time I wanted it to just be us and I had the perfect idea.
We didn’t even have to leave the farm.
I called my dads and asked to borrow their spare projector. Once I told them why and my idea for a fun date night, they volunteered to come over and help me set everything up.
They set up the projector for me on the far side of the farmhouse, keeping the smell of farm animals downwind from us.
While they did that, I set up a few huge blankets and then scrounged up a big inflatable pool I had found one summer. It was the perfect size for all of us to curl up and watch something together.
“We brought over an air compressor, Tillie,” Dad told me as soon as he saw me carrying over the box. “While we get this set up, why don’t you snag pillows, blankets, and whatever else you need.”
“Condoms?” Pop joked and Dad choked on a laugh as I plugged my ears.
“I didn’t hear you say that. I didn’t hear it.”
“Yes you did,” Pop said even louder so I couldn’t drown him out.
“I need therapy.”
“You can thank your mother for most of it,” Dad called out as I ran inside.
Really, I could blame all of them cause they’re all crazy.
Even with that thought I smiled, loving how wonderful my family was and how we were always there for each other.
After I brought down a bunch of things they said their goodbyes and I set up a few comforters in the overly large inflatable pool to make it cozy. After that I piled together pillows and even more blankets.
