Tillie snagged her mug and pushed open the door. I was just contemplating how to wake them when Tillie walked around, opening every curtain before flipping on the light.
A collection of groans echoed out, and Kai tried to burrow into a blanket that had been put over him.
“Oh, no you don’t,” I said, tugging the covers back to reveal a half-glaring, half-yawning, beta.
“That’s okay. I don’t need a blanket,” he said as he snagged Tillie. She let out a shriek as she fell into the pile of blankets. Jack sat up, patting the table for his glasses and scooting out of their reach.
Dean was the most put-together as he pulled himself to his feet. He blinked around at the chaos and shook his head. Then his eyes narrowed on me.
“No sleep again?”
I shrugged. “A little.”
“You can nap after chores,” he reassured me.
“I’ll join,” Tillie said as she fought her way out of Kai’s hold. He was practically pouting but had no choice but to get up now. He was blanketless and omegaless.
“Me, too,” he muttered as he finally stood up and stretched.
“Boots on, boys. We have animals to tend to,” she sang out as she walked to the foyer and tugged on her rubber boots.
Maybe we needed to get us pairs, too, I thought as I looked down at my regular Converse. These weren’t going to last long and were already wet from the dew.
A loud rooster crowing startled Kai so much that he jumped which made me burst out laughing and he spun around to glare at me.
“Watch your back, beta. I’ll get you later.”
Tillie
They sure weren’t country boys.
Well, except Dean.
I tried and probably failed to keep my gaze from straying to him too much. But who could blame an omega when the alpha in question was walking around shirtless, a slight sweat, and muscles on full display.
The others, well… they didn’t know much at all. Between Dean and I we did manage to keep any craziness from starting, which was mainly coming from Kai and aimed at Aiden.
Though, we did miss the mud fight that broke out leaving both betas and Jack covered in enough mud I wondered if they had taken a mud bath with Dottie and Dudley, my potbelly pigs.
A very ladylike snort escaped when I saw them traipsing over to the house.
I pointed to the hose on the side of the porch.
“There’s no way you’re tracking all of that inside,” I told them firmly. “Hose everything off. Strip down. I’ll throw it all in the wash while you take showers.”
“Out here?!” Jack asked, looking around as if he thought there was an audience.
“Don’t worry, alpha. The only ones out here are us and the animals.”
“This is all your fault, Kai,” Aiden complained as he tugged at his shirt, though he didn’t take it off yet. “All I did was laugh.”
“You laughed at me.” Kai shrugged and then started to strip, not the least bit self conscious as he stood there naked and proud. “Seemed fair.”
“That’s not—” Aiden started to protest when he yelled out the same time Jack did.
Kai started a water fight. Two betas and an alpha fighting over the hose while Dean and I just laughed, until we got hit in the crossfire.
“Hey!” Dean yelled out while I just laughed and shook my wet hair out of my face.
