Her touch was warm and soothing, just like Kai’s had been. Though, with her, it wasn’t quite as confusing and strange.

She led me to the lawn where she’d spread out a picnic blanket. Tillie pulled me down with her and I settled on the soft bed of grass. She laid back, so I followed, staring up at the sky.

The sun was out of our way enough now that we could just enjoy the soft autumn breeze and look up at the clouds passing by.

Tillie shifted when Dean, Jack, and Kai asked questions, answering easily. When she went to lay down this time, I pulled her over so her head rested against my chest, propping her up in full view of the others so she could comfortably boss them around.

My eyes drifted closed as I breathed in her scent mixed with the fresh air and let my fingers run through her wild, blonde locks. At some point a shadow fell over us.

“Lean up,” Kai ordered. I opened my eyes to see him holding a small pillow. He waited until I obliged before sliding it under my head. I sighed in contentment as I settled back, the pillow easing some of the ache in my shoulders.

“Thank you,” I whispered.

“I’ve always got you,” Kai said easily as he hurried back to the others, leaving me to mull over those words more than I should.

Maybe it was the anxiety still lingering around, but something felt like it had shifted between us, I was just too stubborn to figure it out.

Kai

Iwas not jealous of the omega.

Fuck it, who was I kidding? Of course, I was.

She was easily laying around with Aiden and he was just accepting it. Hell, he was basking in his proximity to her. Long fingers running through her blonde tresses.

Fucking… I was jealous of both of them and I had no idea what to do with it.

“I’m going to go make something for us to eat,” I announced loudly, Dean and Jack looked over at me as even Aiden cracked open an eye to stare at my sudden outburst.

My voice hadn’t come off as light and unbothered as I meant for it to.

Without waiting for anyone else to say anything I walked inside and made my way into the kitchen. Looking through the pantry and the fridge I got a game plan together of something I knew I could make.

Tillie had come over with fresh sourdough bread and I knew it would go amazing with something light. Working out in the yard then eating a bunch of food never sat well, so some kind of charcuterie would be perfect.

I snagged some fresh fruit and cut them up. Taking my time I arranged the strawberries, grapes, cheddar and brie cheeses. Carefully, I rolled up some meats we had on hand. Thinking of the bread, I whipped up some honey butter that would go great with the dessert loaf she had brought.

Taking some time inside definitely helped my brain. Maybe it was all the scents going wild out there with Tillie around. Or it’s the fact that no matter what I fucking do Aiden doesn’t get that I care about him.

As more than just a packmate.

But damn it, Aiden could make Jack seem like the charismatic one sometimes.

At this point I was seriously considering using smoke signals to see if he got the message.

“Kai?”

I turned to look at Jack who had joined me, his dirty hands pushing up his glasses even as he grimaced at the dirt.

“I came in to wash up and see if you needed help with anything,” he explained as he began to wash his hands.

“If you could grab some waters and stuff for drinks, I’ve made this for us,” I gestured at the spread I’d created.

“That looks good,” he said as he dried off. “I’ll get some water bottles for us.”

Aiden was such a pain, I grimaced at the thought but tried to push it down. Either way, whatever happens or doesn’t happen with him, there was no way I was going to miss out on spending time with my omega.

I balanced the food and brought it outside as Dean passed me to also wash up before joining us to eat. He shot me a searching look that I pointedly ignored and came out loudly announcing that I brought food.
