“Don’t.”

His smile widens.

“Don’t what?”

“Stand there looking so fucking pleased with yourself like you didn’t just butcher someone in front of me.”

Silas leans one shoulder against the wall, completely relaxed. “He deserved worse.”

I actually laugh, but there’s nothing funny in it. “Oh, fuck you.”

“That mouth again.”

“Yeah, keep fucking smiling. Maybe I’ll finish what I started and carve the other side of your face to match.”

His fingers brush over the scar. That smug look stays exactly where it is.

“Maybe I’ll let you,” he says. “Fuck, I’ll even hand you the fucking knife myself, if it means I get to watch you fuck your pretty cunt with it again after.”

I glare at him.

Silas steps closer, clearly enjoying every second of it.

“Don’t look at me like that, if I’m being generous enough to let you carve up the other side of my face, I’m getting something out of it.”

“Go fuck yourself.”

His grin sharpens.

“Tempting. But I have a better idea.”

My stomach twists and he sees it. Naturally.

Silas leans in just enough to make the threat feel intimate.

“So go ahead, little echo. Threaten me with the knife again.”

His eyes drop to my mouth, and that smug fucking smile stays exactly where it is.

I stare at him for a second before laughing under my breath. “You know what your problem is?”

Silas lifts a brow.

“You’re jealous.”

The smile disappears, but not completely.

Just enough.

“Careful.”

“Oh, did I hit a nerve?” I fold my arms and lean back against the desk. “Poor terrifying little frequency monster doesn’t like being called jealous.”

“I don’t get jealous.”

“Sure.”

“I remove problems.”
