He doesn’t say anything, so I answer his question honestly.

“I didn’t think I wanted to, but I see how in love they are. The way they have this camaraderie that I won’t ever fully understand because I’m not an old lady.”

“Is that the only reason you’d want to be an old lady?” he asks.

I sigh. “No. If that was it, I could have found one of the brothers before now. You’re not the first guy from the club to have his sights on me.”

“I’m the first one that’s in your bed.”

I smile. “You’re right about that.”

I yawn, unable to contain the exhaustion that’s setting in.

“We can do more deep talk later. Sleep now.”

My eyes start to drift shut. “Will Jonah still be here in the morning?”

I vaguely hear him respond.

“Jonah will be here for as long as you’ll have him, Princess.”

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Hades

“Rebel was able to place a microscope camera with audio on the frame of the window screen on Dansworth’s home office, along with a tracker on both of his cars,” Trigger says.

“It’s a shame he can’t get into the house,” Wrath mutters.

“Give him time. He might be able to find a way in,” I say.

The instinct to defend the man is still ingrained in me. It doesn’t matter that I haven’t seen him in a decade or know who he is now. I still have his back. Always.

“What about Mav?” Reaper asks.

Trigger adjusts his glasses. “He’s making friends. Said people are starting to talk more freely, but most of them are still tight-lipped. He’s going to a happy hour with those from work this evening, so he might catch something then.”

“When I saw him the other day, he said people either love Dansworth or are quiet,” I add.

Reaper looks over at me and frowns. “Were you careful?”

I nod. “Yeah, we had some things to discuss.”

Wrath cracks his fingers. “I hope we find something soon. I don’t like how he threatened Evelyn.”

Me neither.

In fact, it’s something that keeps playing through my mind. The way she looked scared as hell. The way she fell into me when she saw me. How she finally let her guard down around me because of it.

Hearing all the details almost sent me into a rage.

To know how he threatened her. Someone who doesn’t have any skin in the game outside of her last name.

Only her need for safety kept me in her bed.

“We should talk to Adalyn,” Midnight mutters.

“No,” Honk snaps.
