“Yes, but only if you go shower. You stink.”
She pushes at my chest, but a small smile plays on her lips. “You’re a dick.”
“So you tell me.”
She shakes her head and walks away, heading down the hall. When she’s out of view, I blow out a deep breath.
I don’t know what it is about the woman, but she’s slowly starting to get under my skin. I head into the kitchen and work on throwing together one of those meat and cheese boards she likes, along with a bowl of fruit. Then I make myself a sandwich. Just as I take my first bite, I hear the shower turn off.
An image of her naked flashes through my mind, making my dick twitch.
Fuck, it’s been too long since I’ve gotten laid.
Maybe I should take one of the sweetbutts up on their offer to help me out. As soon as the thought enters my head, I push it to the side. A random hookup, even with someone I know, doesn’t even sound appealing. Not since I met her.
At first she was an annoyance, but one I liked to pester. Now though? I’m finding I enjoy taking care of Evelyn. It’s a dangerous game I’m playing. I don’t deserve her or the happiness I know she will get one day.
“You okay?” Evelyn asks as she comes into view.
She’s got on a pair of black sleep shorts with a matching top that has buttons down the middle. Even from a distance, I can tell she doesn’t have a bra on.
“I’m good. Made you food,” I drawl.
She eyes me for a second before looking at the counter. She smiles as she approaches.
“Thank you.”
I grunt in response as she sits down to eat. For a few minutes we eat in silence.
“You did good today,” I tell her after a minute.
Without looking up from her food, she shrugs. “I didn’t kill anyone, but I probably could have done more.”
“You did enough.”
“Did I, though? I always worry that I haven’t.”
Before I can tell her that she’s lost her fucking mind, my phone rings.
“One sec,” I mutter as I pull out my phone. “Yeah?”
“Hey, we need Evelyn,” Wrath says.
I look over at the woman in question and see that she’s already looking at me, with a frown on her face.
“We’re on our way.” Without looking away from her, I hang up. “Better get some shoes on. It looks like your night isn’t over yet.”
Evelyn
“What happened and to who?” I demand as I storm into the clubhouse, heading toward the basement.
“Lemon stopped to help a woman with a blown tire. It was an ambush. He’s in the med room. They already hooked him up to the monitors but haven’t given him anything yet,” Bullet tells me.
“So he was just beat up?”
“I’m not sure,” Bullet says.
I fly down the stairs, Hades close on my heels. When I enter the med room Reaper made for me, I head right to the sink.
